That would involve changes in sheet-metal fabrication and additional costs. The cladding could have been designed better though!

Style man, there are lots of others like the Endy too which have the same trait.

Inder your "wine and dine" is very close to their proposed Sardinia Red. Not nice man!

I am tempted to try the same with my current Safari itself.
The current Safari roof sheet [without the roof carrier] can take weight upto 100 KGs [as told by the sales and service advisers]. So, I am OK to be on top of it

Prem.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

Looks very tame. Now the Safari from the rear looks a lot like the Maruti Versa\Eco! Not a good thing that. Also the front bumper could have had lrger air dams to make it more aggressive. Beige interiors too is not my cup of tea. Overall, this update has made the Safari Storm, the least charming of all the Safari iteratios produced till date.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

Few years back when Safari moved from double barrel head light to single barrel head light, people said old was much better in looks and everything. (you can find this comment in Team-BHP)

In Storme, when again they changed to double barrel from single barrel headlight, people says old single barrel is much better than current double barrel as single barrel adds to the macho look. (you can find this comment in this thread itself).

Bottom line is: We Indians are very susceptible to change, if any change happens anywhere initially for majority of people, it is hard to accept. That is why we are still driving old Amby, Old Jeeps, Old trucks and so on. When Maruti introduced their 800 in India, it was very hard to accept by many people of India. Old is Gold always in our India, we do not want to change

I personally feel, majority of changes happened in Storme is very good if not better. I like the new aesthetics.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

Further update.
I had a word with a head tech at a workshop. I constantly whine to him about the center pin issues of my safari.
He told me(he has undergone training), that the steering system is totally changed!

The new rack and pinion system won't require silly things like center pin greasing and replacement(a common safari problem).

I hope they have also beefed up the tie rods and the front suspension components. Older safari had stuff fit for an indica, not for a safari!

Few Images of Safari from my Side. After actually looking it in person I realised that is it actually all new. Not very bad. In looks I will give it 6/10.

Is it foldable. I tried hard, but was unable to fold it!

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

Maybe some release mechanism like apna Bajaj Chetak pillion foot-board?

Look at this "scoop" photo - it looks like its folded up.

I dont think the Safari roof(which is not a one piece roof anyways) is designed to take the weight of the roof tent and 2 adults. Considering that the tent is fully rested on the roof with no stilt supports.

One allweather heavy duty 4 sleeper portable tent will take up less that 1/5th of the space of the roof and probably be 1/5th cheaper than the roof mounted tent too.

Looks pretty nice though. Aspirational uber kool stuff.

Also just noticed that the snorkel tube is creating a huge blind spot on the drivers side. The Safari A pillar is a big blind spot in itself anyways.

Any idea where those ARB bumpers can be bought from in India ??
I would like to have those on my Safari in my planned mods coming up.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

I keep looking at that roof tent photo and wonder how is the overhang (outside the roof) supported? Won't it just collapse? Especially with the ladder propped up - first time someone tries to climb in?

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

TSK,

What are those smurf's ears over the third row/rear quarter glass for ?

Also appears that the dampers attached to the rear differential are no longer there ?

thanks
Srini
