The car is wider and tall than the SX4 S cross
Yes, in this pic, the front grill and head lights reminds me of the IV-4 concept.

Re: Maruti’s plans - Upgraded Swift, SX4 Crossover and an 800cc Diesel car?

As a report in TOI, Maruti Suzuki is working on developing a scalable diesel engine to expand its portfolio into categories like SUVs & MUVs. It is like to introduce sub-1 litre, a 1.2 litre, a 1.4 litre & a 1.6 litre engine in two-three years, which will will be used over its entire portfolio of cars, considering the huge demand for diesel cars in India.. Re: Maruti’s plans - Upgraded Swift, SX4 Crossover and an 800cc Diesel car?

After the Expo...here is the take on Suzuki's plans,

Maruti has lined up three new models that will make make their Indian debut in the near future. The company hopes the SX4 S-Cross which was showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo will feed the growing demand for compact SUV/crossovers in the country. Expecting low volumes , it is expected to showcase the presence of Suzuki in the SUV segment.

The S-Cross is based on the current outgoing SX4 sedan platform and while the launch dates have not been finalised, the car will be launched ahead of the company's upcoming compact SUV/CUV XA-Alpha. SX S Cross could be released in late 2014/ early 2015, and XA Alpha in 2016.

Suzuki IV4 is targeted only for the EU market and would be available only with ALL WHEEL DRIVE. Currently the car is undergoing testing.

Quote:
“The S-Cross will hit the roads before the commercial production of sports utility vehicle XA Alpha. But we cannot share the exact timing of the launch,” said Kenichi Ayukawa, says MD and chief executive of Maruti Suzuki, in a Business-Standard report.
With the Ciaz, the change in the design language, the company hopes to see it as an attractive package with the traditional benefits of a Maruti Suzuki. The move probably is in keeping with Indian buyers new-found love for aggressively styled cars like the Hyundai Verna and Ford EcoSport.

Later part of 2016 the new Swift arrive.

All future and existing market leading models will come with the newly found 'AMT' Technology , as a variant, the speed to market launch will depend on the market response to the Celerio(AMT).

Cheers!

XA Alpha could get the new crop of turbo diesel engines from Suzuki are said to have capacities of 0,8 liters, 1.2 liters, 1.4 liters and 1.6 liters. Either the 1.2 liter or 1.4 liter turbo diesel mills could power the XA Alpha. The car is expected to be sold in front wheel drive and four wheel drive guises.

"Maruti Suzuki is working on its first diesel commuter van, an 800cc diesel version of the Eeco, with plans to launch the model in 2016."

“Maruti is working to adapt the 800cc diesel engine, its first self-developed engine, for the Eeco van. The engine will first be launched in the new Maruti LCV (codeY9T) and the Celerio this fiscal,” a source close to the development told FE, while adding that the Eeco will progressively replace the Maruti Omni van as well.

All looks good except the plan for a LCV pickup in Maruti line-up. It will erode Maruti's brand value in the passenger car segment. See how Tata lost the passenger car sales after a Nano. Customers will definitely think twice if they have to buy a car which is having the same badge as a load carrier.

Autocar India reviews the S Cross -Yes, will be called S cross ( drops the SX4 badge) in India.

Coming to India in 1.6DDIS variant, dubs it as a pleasently surprise - packaged well, spacious in the backseat, great driveability.

The new 1.6 DDIS is also sourced from Fiat,so may be we can expect this engine in upcoming Fiat cars too ? Its got impressive specs as per ACI review. 118bhp and 320nm of torque.

I hope the front is made more SUV like. Looks like a sedan to me upfront.

Yes Fiat will have to introduce the same engine in their cars too or there is no point. But the revenue manger will be Maruti but just for sake Fiat will introduce the engine. Hope they keenly push Fiat cars and the other downside is more royalty to Fiat which will increast the sales price per car.

Not sure if Fiat would like to share the 1.6MJD the same way they shared the 1.3MJD. We will need to wait and watch to see how this sharing deal pans out in India. Else Fiat would have already come into with the 1.6 MJD Linea.
