Looks like Toyota's version of fluidic design. The lines are now leading from he front end until the rear and there is a wavey, unlike other toyotas. Looks to keep up with the times. The Corolla was never a "beauty" first car. Always more ROI than fun. This philosophy seems to continue. Since the corolla design in global, it needs to suit the common denominator of all the car buyer across all the continents. That is a huge task.

Re: Launch of new Corolla & Innova by Mid-2015?

I am worried about the new model. It will make Innova in the "unaffordable" territory. Rest assured the top model will be 22 ish ex showroom definetly.

Re: Launch of new Corolla & Innova by Mid-2015?

I tried googling for information on a 2013 Toyota Innova launch and could not find anything useful.

The current Innova will be stopped around June.

The new Innova will be priced between the current one and Fortuner.
Does this mean , by June 2013 we can expect the new Innova ?

My few bits of information here.
Firstly the Avanza is not a Toyota Model. It is an OE manufacturing by Daihatsu (in Daihatsu plant) for Toyota in Indonesia.

Second, there is no diesel powerplant on the Avanza. And by what I know from trusted sources, the existing platform cannot handle any of the existing diesel engines from Toyota without heavy modifications.

Surprising it is to know that the Avanza is sold in more than 70 countries globally (apparently more than Innova) all of which (100%) are exported from Indonesia.
Average sales of Avanza in Indonesia per month is 15000 units.

If Toyota has to launch Avanza in India, then are we looking at a CBU?
If not, Toyota will not bother to get into an agreement with Daihatsu for manufacturing in India and even if they manage to do, the investments wil not allow for a competitive pricing from start.

If you do look at the avanza closely, it sells mainly for it's VFM image.
Many basic spec are missing, as in, not wanted by customers considering the price of the vehicle. The AC does not even have a fresh air/recirculation mode and blower direction control!!

2014 Toyota Corolla sedan teased yet again

Link to News Section

The Corolla has been one of Toyota's all time best selling car models across the globe what with the car regularly topping sales charts. Due for a full refresh, the 2014 Corolla is just around the corner, on June 6th 2013 to be precise. The 2014 Toyota Corolla will be first unveiled in the United States, one of the car's biggest markets. The 2014 Corolla, said to be inspired by the Toyota Furia Concept, promises to be a sharper looking car in terms of design. The car is also expected to grow in size, thus offering more space. An all new model, the 2014 Toyota Corolla is expected to continue in the vein of the 2012 Camry, as a car whose conservative exterior hides the extensive revamp under the skin. Here are a fresh crop of teasers that Toyota has released in the run up to the 2014 Corolla's global premiere in the United States.

While the styling of the 2014 Corolla will draw inspiration from the Furia concept, the mechanicals of the Corolla are expected to be dominated by the standard 1.8 Liter-naturally aspirated 4 cylinder engine, good for 138 Bhp-173 Nm. This engine, which features Toyota's variable valve technology, dubbed VVT-i, is expected to be tweaked to deliver a fuel economy of about 17 Kmpl. A more powerful version of the 1.8 liter petrol engine could be in the works for the Corolla S model, essentially a sporty version of the best selling sedan. A smaller 1.6 liter petrol engine is expected to power the entry level variant of the 2014 Corolla in many international car markets. Another significant change in the 2014 Toyota Corolla sold in the US market will be in the transmission department.

While the 6 speed manual gearbox will be carried over to the new model, the 4 speed torque converter gearbox will be replaced by a CVT automatic gearbox that behaves like a conventional automatic gearbox in terms of gear changes. Through the improved CVT automatic gearbox, which will have software allowing stepped gear shifts, Toyota's goal is to eliminate the rubber-band effect associated with CVT transmissions. Notably, this CVT automatic gearbox with sequential shift technology is already available on the India-spec Corolla Altis. Select car markets such as India and Europe are expected to retain the 1.4 Liter D-4D turbo diesel engine for diesel variants of the 2014 Corolla.

On the inside, changes to the 2014 Corolla are expected to be quite extensive, with an all new dashboard dominating proceedings. The interiors also get a host of new features. A push button start system, revamped leather upholstery, satellite navigation and a touch screen infotainment system are the few changes that will make it onto the 2014 Corolla. While the car will go on sale in the United States in the next few months, it will take a while for Toyota Kirloskar Motors to launch the 2014 Corolla in India. Though the Corolla Altis is one of the top selling C+ segment sedans in India, Toyota's plans of going slow on Indian operations could delay the launch of the 2014 Corolla in India.

Re: Launch of new Corolla & Innova by Mid-2015?

Nice pics. Hope they also take some design elements to Etios as well.
Also Toyota needs to look at its Engine line up as well. Agreed they are reliable and last a life time.

But majority of us typically need a car that can last 5-10 years and can peacefully run 1-1.5 lakh kms. This is where Hyundai is winning hearts i guess. I dont see any Hyundai taxis on road. so question mark on these engines being troublefree for say 2-3 lakh kms. But then they are giving more goodies which we can use for next few years and then sell it off

This is AWESOME, it'd be a well deserved 18L for this design by next year. Hope they get abit more serious of the Indian market. I guess the petrol would be the same engine, maybe fine tuned abit, but question is, would this come with the 2L Diesel engine? I'd say it deserves the 2L diesel for this design.

- Instrument Cluster in Video is 2 big dials while there three dials indicated in the pictures of the launched car.
- The AT gearbox is without a cover in video while the one in Snaps is covered.
- The Aircon in Video appears to be with two rotary dials (possibly dual AC) but in case of snaps it shows only one rotary dial.
- Even the headlights are different

The pictures you have posted might be for the US market and the model in the video for other markets including India.

Possible but US Corolla is officially launched now and Corolla for Asian market has no confirmation on how much Corolla design will change.

I just hope it stays the same for Indian Corolla in terms of interior and headlight design as it is in the case of US version

Like I said on a similar thread, If Toyota gives this the 2L Diesel which is available internationally, it might just blow the competition away...
