Yes, it would. But, it would need to have a Lift, Lockers, and redesigned Bumpers. Two OEM Thar's failed to clear this (first 2-3 holes). One heavily Modified Thar managed to complete this challenge, but after the depth of the holes was reduced a bit by filling them up with soil.

Cheers!
Breather Tubes - Yes
Seals - Yes
BUT, and a BIIIG BUT - Water is NEVER kind to ANY Vehicle. Even after a vehicle has been prepared for Fording, certain care is necessary. I believe there is an entire thread running on TBHP on this subject. You would generally need to clean up a lot of stuff, replace a lot of oils after a significant water crossing. One big risk with both C-In-C and Tubular Chassis is that of Water entering inside the Chassis, and staying inside to cause Corrossion. So, your Chassis must be properly sealed.

I don't have a picture ready. But, I know where they were located originally. The Front Diff Breather ended at just below Bonnet height in a Capped Plastic cup.
The Rear Diff Breather was much Lower, and was routed up to the Chassis Member and strapped there.
The IDEAL thing to do with the Gurkha is to route the Diff Breather's to the top of the Snorkel.

Re: Force Gurkha on sale again. Launched @ 6.25 Lakhs

The face of Gurkha kept me away last night and it bothered me again and again...

..Then i went to the box containing the toy cars of my daughter, and managed to dig out the inspiration behind the new face of the Gurkha.

The headlights and the chin of the Gurkha is similar to Mater.

Here lies the inspiration of the Gurkha!

In off roading circles, and for that matter I happen to be a Pilot as well does anybody anywhere in the world calculate off road approach to climbs in gradient.

By simple trignometric formula Tan 45 = 1
This is about the maximum a good off road vehicle can safely negotiate.

Over and above this say a 60 % slope, tan 60 = 1.73 which is Pi/3 radians

The inclinometers of most of the Pajeros and Prados show a + or - 30 degree incline.

Attitude indicators are caliberated only till + or - 30 deg maximum what is visible in normal display before the ball rolls down or up is upto 20 degrees.

The climbs and dunes shown by Roy Libran are all pretty solid and hard ground put any MM550, CJ3B or even the Thar in Low 3 and just roll over them without batting and eyelid. All this will be classified as Grade 1 beginners stuff when it comes to experienced off road drivers.

The extended air intakes look like Drainage Pipes . Force Motors should have atleast referred to the LandRovers for design and style cues and maybe integrated a stylish intake rather than this looking like an after thought.

How has been the tyre wear of your vehicle or other Gurkhas that you may have seen? normal or any issues that you know of or suspect.

Good find!! Somehow, though still just a little bit, the all black colour somewhat mutes that dreadful front part. For the yellowish green or red colours, the front part is more grotesque.

Lest I introduce any subjectivity in my response, I'll let a picture do the talking. This is a 5 minute old snapshot for tyres that have now been used for 20000 kms on and off road.

Spot on. Though Mater might look a bit better than the Gurkha !

This older variant looks better than the current "Mater" look alike, which was specially made for the Indian Army.

A thousand times better , I wonder how people come up with design cues which makes no sense at all , do they even consider form or function ?
The older Gurkha looks classic !

Man! I happen to know the designer personally and I don't think he'd be too glad to see this particular post!

But I don't blame him. He did what he was told to to do. Designers don't always have their own way.

Unfortunate that he'll be held responsible for inducing ugliness into a vehicle that looked quite alright to begin with. Would love to know how he would have designed it differently if he had his way. Will help people get pointers into what all is possible to reduce the ugliness. Please do ask him if he can share

Cheers,
Adi

Send us his email ID, we will forward the link anonymously. He deserves to see this thread - if only so that he doesnt create more such ugliness.
