Yes, but the Brazilian versions come with parking sensors which are clearly visible in the numerous brazilian pics posted

Its the climate control sunlight sensor. It raises or lowers the fan speed depending on the intensity of the sun.

If you look further to the right and left, outside the numberplate section,
you'll see the sensor on the bumper where it curves, just above the reflector.
Anyway, I think the website had more photographs, which give a clear view.
Unfortunately the site is not opening from my office, so I can't post one here.

That was what was promised in 2012 by Ford, and looking at what's been put on display now at the same place more than 15 months later, the complaints are justified!

Okay, so there are only a few cars I'm ever really excited about and this is surely one of them. Couldn't wait till the official launch of the car so I went with a friend to the Mall in Mumbai to have a look.

Observations:

1) Has super presence. Trust me if the pricing rumor is even closed to what the reality is, it's not only going to eat away into the Duster market but also some higher end hatch backs that sell so well in our market. The Swift Diesel for example is almost 7 Lakh on road! But it's still perceived to be a small car.

2) The interior in person isn't all that bad.

3) Back seat leg room is less, however the seating position is very different, the back rest is at an angle. You sit high up in this car compared to a sedan where you sit low and thus would want to spread your legs for more comfort.

4) The PR team told me that this isn't the final car that will hit the market. It will be different. AND, they didn't let me open the hood.

5) The glove box had already come off! When we opened the glove box, it had already come off from it's hinges.

6) There must easily be 50 people there to see the car. People were queuing up to get a feel of the car.

It was there in the show car I saw in Select city walk mall in Delhi. Not sure if this is an add on or OEM.

I don't think it will be offered at start since the MID is too basic and even if offered it will be a addon and not in dash option.

I know a lot of people have cribbed about interior quality etc., but at closer look this does look like a pre production example. Some of the quality could improve with the production models.

It would be a pity Ford opted for a side hinged tailgate, a top hinged tailgate is a lot more convenient especially in tight parking spots. The left hinged door could be an irritant.

Also I tried to find out if Ford will be launching an AWD or 4WD version and there seems to be no information. This is what I could get on the 4WD EcoSports

It could be a great all weather car and frankly I would not worry about interiors then!

Overall impressive but way far from the quality expected and hyped over an year !! Interior pics of the first page shows a very sad looking quality. Engine bay pics & the road-side-garage style of taping of the wires take away the entire quality expectation too. I really hope & pray Ford does not mess up the already build up expectations with the final product. I always thought Ecosport is my next wheels, would be curiously waiting for the Bangalore display & the TD later on.

I find it disappointing. Not because I cannot live with some bad plastics, but what we see reveals the cost cutting Ford has employed on this car. If the indications are correct, we are going to get a mediocre car with suspect quality, reliability and safety. This is Ford doing a Maruti.

However, I find the reactions from T-BHP members quite amusing. The clamour, initially, was for a car that is cheap, but now they complain about quality. Please, you can't get German quality at Chinese prices.

I am still hoping against hope that the final car that they launch would be of good quality and would be priced well (8-12L ex).

Maybe Ford is testing waters to see the reaction of perspective buyers and figure out which direction to take, better interiors for a little more price or same interiors with a killer price tag. The other fact is, you can make small changes and make the interiors look much nicer and plush, lets imagine the same interiors and exchange these poor seat covers to top notch leather covers, leather wrapped steering wheel, chrome accents and suddenly the interiors are not so bad.

One thing is for sure, Ecosport will not be able to woo Verna and Vento buyers with this quality of interiors. I still have not seen the car in person, will go with an open mind this weekend to assess for myself.
