Does that mean the launch of YBA can be pre-poned to this year itself, as the engine is already available?

IMO, debut will still be in the Auto Expo 2016.

Nope, Boosterjet is expected in YRA hatch. This one is supposed to use the 1.2L K-series engine.

With Boosterjet being the next gen Petrol engines from Suzuki and considering the power and fuel efficiency, it is most likely the YBA petrol will debut with the 1.0 L Boosterjet engine.

Going forward Maruti will likely have all their cars powered with this generation of engines.

Maruti YBA compact SUV spied testing on Indian roads again!- heavily inspired by the New Suzuki Vitara SUV

Maruti has begun testing this new SUV on Indian roads. The Maruti YBA compact SUV will be less than four-meters long and as seen from the earlier spy pictures, the exterior styling makes it appear muscular.
Maruti's compact SUV will come with a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel engine; will be feature-laden.

The YBA crossover will have to pack in a lot of equipment to be prepared to take on its rivals. Like the YRA hatchback, the compact SUV will also use Maruti’s existing range of engines, the K12 and K14.

How I hope they introduce the Vitara instead of S-Cross, this Mini-Vitara! And a Grand-Vitara later!

Mini-Vitara in the 5.5 - 8L segment
Vitara in 8L - 12L segment
Grand Vitara in 13 - 17L segment.

re: The Maruti Vitara Brezza Compact SUV

Will Maruti Suzuki launch the YBA- Its EcoSport rival in only a diesel varaint - following the S Cross model?

Reports indicate so.

Brazilian auto journal (N A) calls the YBA - A Mini Vitara! Anticipates newer export markets.

Quote:
The model now looks like a mini Vitara, thus inheriting aesthetic elements of the older brother, not yet offered in Brazil.
Quote:
With low production costs, the YBA should act not only in the Indian market, but also in other markets of Southeast Asia and Africa. Perhaps reach the Chilean market, always open to cars coming from these regions.

re: The Maruti Vitara Brezza Compact SUV

Design cues for the YBA will be taken from the New Vitara. ( see link)

New Vitara is speculated to be in Maruti's radar for an Indian launch.

Grand Vitara in 13 - 17L segment.

Going by the current trend in pricing , vitara will be a bit more than creta and grand vitara will be well ahead in terms of cost since it's a full blown suv/ cross over.
Mini vitara ,which is likely to be the one with highest chance of success will be 6 to 9.5 lakhs atleast. All these are my opinions of the launch is within this financial year. With next pay commission round the car, who knows how much the prices may be jacked up.

re: The Maruti Vitara Brezza Compact SUV

YBA Maruti's rival to EcoSport is speculated to launch in January 2016. Will be feature rich similar to the S Cross.

Maruti Suzuki is rumoured to go with the name Vitara Brezza.

re: The Maruti Vitara Brezza Compact SUV

This is the YBA - Vitara Brezza? for India - rendered by ACI, which normally is nearly accurate to the real one.

Quote:
Like the recently launched S-Cross, we expect Maruti to offer safety features such as ABS and airbags across all variants of this new compact SUV.
YBA together with S Cross is expected to get a major chuck of the CUV market for Maruti Suzuki.

Somehow the C-pillar looks weird, and bit Cretaish ---. I will look forward to them bringing the new Vitara to India. This also will go the NEXA way?

The YBA is expected to be launched with the same 1.3-litre, Fiat-sourced diesel engine that is used in other Maruti vehicles.
I think I'm going to scream now. What is it with Maruti? Can't they think of anything beyond this engine? Putting the same 1.3 MJD from the Swift/Ritz LDI, to the premium Ciaz ZDI+, and then on the premium S-Cross. No doubt, this is a capable engine. But using it across segments, price bands, dimensions, and generations seems a little too much

The 1.0l boosterjet engine could be also offered in the petrol variant.
Till Suzuki's 1.5 diesel is under development, the only alternate is the 1.3MJD engine, as of now.
