The country’s largest passenger car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL), on Friday released the sketch of its much awaited compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) to be called the ‘Vitara Brezza’.

The company said the global unveil of Vitara Brezza will take place at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo in early February.

“Brezza, Italian for ‘fresh breeze’, will be launched in the Indian market a few weeks after the Delhi Auto Expo. More details will be available in the run-up to the expo,” the company said in a statement.

The first sketch of the Vitara Brezza points to a stylish compact SUV that is confident and energetic, designed to especially appeal to the urban SUV customer.

On the exterior, the designer has captured the essence of an SUV profile and infused it with the dynamism of urban vehicles.

Several elements in the exterior design impart a distinct character to the Brezza.

“Balanced proportion supported by square wheel arches, short overhangs, high ground clearance and upright hood gives the vehicle a confident stance. The raising belt and rocker lines, and the roofline that slopes down gently towards the rear give the vehicle a dynamic posture,” the designer of the vehicle said.

“The body surfaces are natural and sculpted tastefully to create the right interplay of highlight and shadow. The instantly recognisable floating roof over the wraparound greenhouse adds to the visual drama, and makes the Brezza stand out in the crowd,” the designer added.

So far, based on information in this thread, there seems to be no AWD/4X4 versions in pipeline. How I wish they keep it as an option.

re: The Maruti Vitara Brezza Compact SUV

The teaser image clearly shows this one has not much resemblence to the international vitara, but may come in 2-tone exterior colours.

re: The Maruti Vitara Brezza Compact SUV

Vitara Brezza is the same shape and design as the internationally launched Vitara.

The changes could be in engine types and capacity of the engines and the variants with features.

Vitara Brezza

A promotional video of the Vitara Brezza in the Global Suzuki website.

For once, just for once, if Maruti can avoid using its 'design skills' to 'indianize' it with additional chrome and plonk anemic engines to cater to the 'kitna deti hai' audience, the vehicle is sure going to be a killer!

Keeping in mind the competitors, 1.2 K-Series petrol seems to be unlikely. The 1.4 from Ciaz makes more sense.

Isn't Vitara different from Vitara brezza?

Hopefully, but considering tax benefits for sub 4m vehicle you never know what they might come up with. It will be a pleasant surprise if they plonk the turbocharged 1L engine which is expected in the Baleno!

Good video, but this is the full size Vitara. The Brezza is a sub 4m compact SUV, which may have some design cues from the original Vitara.

if Maruti has to price it good, it has to come with a 1.2L for petrol. Knowing how conservative they play, I would be surprised if I see a 1.4L K-Series or 1.6L MJD mated to this car.

What's the horizontal lamp above the fog lamp? It doesn't seem to be a DRL as it's not lit when the car is running.

To me, it looks like the turn indicators like those on the earlier M800s. I could be wrong though.

My wait for a second vehicle is continuing, and with this also coming to fore now, I'm eagerly waiting for Auto-Expo and new launches. If nothing is to my liking, I'll go ahead with the S-Cross.
