New 2017 Suzuki Swift Revealed.

Quote:
the next Swift will be slightly longer, lower and wider than the current car, providing a small boost in practicality. Lightness and a fun drive will be the focus.
Quote:
The range will kick off with the Baleno’s new 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. We also expect the naturally aspirated 1.2-litre mild hybrid powertrain to be made available
Quote:
There will be much more scope for personalisation and individuality with the new Swift, too, with a variety of exterior and interior customisation choices

Looks much better than the initial sketches (violet shade) floating around. Feels great to see the rear door handles back where they belong. Front overhang looks a wee bit overdone though. Would love to see how this drives.

The door handle position in the latest render is incorrect. The hatchback will have the unconventional door handle placement and only the sedan will come with conventional door handles.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

With the Baleno and Ignis occupying the upper and lower parts of the premium hatch segment, I wonder where Maruti is going to position the new Swift.

I feel that they already have the Baleno for people looking for a well rounded family car. The Swift should be it's sportier sibling. They can position it as a proper warm hatch, giving more importance to the handling and performance rather than ride comfort and fuel efficiency. Given the immense pull that the 'SWIFT' brand has in India, it is bound to sell like hot cakes. And who knows, this might make others follow suit and launch more such performance oriented hatches!

Their worry would be not to try and cannibalise (too much) Baleno and Ignis when the new Swift gets launched here. Brand Swift has far better recognition than anything else in the Maruti stable.

But yeah, even I hope they offer a sporty variant atleast this time around.

Looks great; wide, planted (With the black skirting though), WRC ready.
But, wait. Was that a real car? I feel it is a computer generated image. Some of the lines do not look real. (Front windscreen, Right A Pillar and the roof do not look proportional)

I also hope, they have also designed the sub-4 meter swift along-with this one

Hope Maruti work on making this new generation structurally stable or are they going to make it unsafe as well just like the current generation?

I'll prefer a more flatter roof line. Though a compromise on the front passenger headroom, it will give the car a more sportier look, and remove the awkwardness created by the rear-slopping roof + blackened A pillar combination, IMO.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

Guess I am the only one who thinks this is the ugliest iteration of the Swift so far! The first gen looks so chic compared to this.

And did someone say "wider" than previous generation? People struggle to park the car with the bulges, hope at least the bulges are not so prominent with the increase in width.

We need to be patient and await the unveiling in October, Baleno in its scoop pics and rendering too did receive a lot of flak but the final version was more than acceptable to the masses.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

Need some help team, i was planning to retire my old swift and exchange it for the current one but now this has totally screwed my plans. Really like the new shape, when can we expect this to get launched here realistically ?? I can wait for 6-7 months top or will have to consider the (costlier) i20. Also will be shifting to petrol now.
