re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

What's the point in placing only the rear door handles near the c-pillar? Otherwise, they had to place the front door handles also at a similar position, near the b-pillar.

Lovely looking car. Interiors are sporty as well. I've always loved Swift, now I think this love is gonna turn into a purchase.

Also, it looks eerily similar to Datsun Go from back!

More finer details of the Suzuki Swift.

As with any release there are some hit and misses not meeting the expectations of all. But there a lot of positives especially the cabin where the improvement has to be appreciated.

IMHO this looks quite nice. Fun yet more mature looking, love the colors too. Another sure shot hit for MSIL.

Swift has always been fun to drive and the new model is looking great. Is there any plan to launch a sport variant with turbo petrol in India?

I have a feeling that this version of Swift is gonna be much better looking in flesh than pics. Somehow it feels like pics are not doing justice to the car.

Any idea on when the new SWIFT will be launched in India? I like the design overall but I am not a fan of rear door handles on the pillars like Chevrolet BEAT.

Loved the interiors of this version! The ACC controls, steering, instrument cluster - everything looks great! However not too impressed with the external looks.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

Looks like a nicely done evolution though the rear, esp. tail lamps seem like a lift from the current Nissan Micra. But i love how the front has come out esp. that clean bonnet with slight curve / dip just before it meets the fenders. And swift is one car that i've found looking handsome in all shades & colors - except the hideous beige color that my father has on his Dzire.

I've always liked the Swift somehow but only when am driving it. The current gen has rear seats that are claustrophobic and this one seems to only accentuate that feeling further. But this being lighter and based on the Baleno platform, I hope will be even more fun to drive! Though all this lightness of current gen MSIL cars makes me wonder if the rattles that MSIL managed to get rid off will be back soon on their cars.

And, about time MSIL gets us the "true" Sports version (and not the sticker job one) since we probably now have at least some off take of hot hatches thanks to VW & Fiat.

ACI reviews the Swift -First look video,

Maruti Suzuki is likely to retain the current set of Engines with a bit more power , expect to get the 1.0 L boosterjet too. The SWIFT Sports is very much there in their plans for India.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

Japanese version of new Swift gets 265 Litres of boot space. With an expected extended-rear-legroom for India, we may get around 220-240Litres, I guess.

Tell me the New Gen Swift looks better !!

IMO, Maruti could have probably fiddled around a tiny bit on the exteriors of the Current Swift and updated the interiors with the ones showcased on the New Gen.
This alone could have just changed everything about this ONCE HOT HATCH!!

But yep, as many agree here, Maruti will still top the charts when this UGLY (IMO) car is launched in India.

The front is slightly similar to the i20, especially the previous generation facelift.
But boy, that rear is a straight lift from the Etios Liva. Indentical.

Apart from the looks that are subjective, looking at the Japanese spec sheet, this can now take on the i20 Elite head on.
But then, expecting MS to keep out the cheap plastics and parts out of a Swift (for India) is, literally, expecting a little too much

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

Despite being a Suzuki lover, honestly I think with the new swift I believe that they have created a I20 elite clone. The design of the First Gen and the Second Gen Swift, stood out against the competition and the plain functional no-nonsense interiors were to my liking and I am sure most Swift Fans would agree. With each passing generation the swift is looks more like the already exsiting breed of cars. Which I feel Suzuki shouldnt have done. I am not saying that the 2017 Swift isnt good looking. It is just that it doesnt look like 'a Swift' any more. Praying to MSIL to atleast bless us with a 100BHP+ GT version with a proper 1.6 motor here in India. That would surely give some solace to dissapointed loyalists like me.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

I am kind of okay with the way this looks on the outside except for that door handle on the C pillar a la the Beat. Hate that. A three door car should ideally have a longer front door which gives a very strong side profile. This is just mockery!

Coming back to the design, we have only ourselves to blame for the added bulk at the rear on this Swift. The room at the rear and the boot has gone up due to popular demand and usually when that happens, it goes all boxy and a bit drab. And this really looks like a mishmash of many cars. I am also surprised at the omission of the signature rear fog lamp from the bumper. That's a must for the Swift.

Hope it is as sharp to drive as the previous generations. Actually I am not too worried as Suzuki now got the Baleno to cater to the audience who prefers comfort and easiness over a sporty drive. So this Swift should retain that sporty DNA.
