re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

The new Swift is a stunner - the design has matured and made more contemporary.
Though some exterior bits look borrowed, the overall body has one design language and that's what makes it a stunner. The red and black shades are awesome.
This one is going to take some business off the elite i20 and Baleno.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

I believe nissan micra to be the same segment as swift. Dont know why we cant get cars like these in india. The new murrano is miles away in terms of design to its competition. It seems honda lost track with its designs, suzuki with ignis and now swift. Hyundai has converted indian ideology with sleek design for creta, it just shows. VW has no design only poloish looks in every thing with great engines.Tata has this indica back drop design in every thing they do, why maybe ratan gi s intervention. Mahindra with cheeta, dog cat faces may be jungle rugged suvish tall cars.

According to me, honeycomb is for the normal variants while the other one is for the hybrid variant. I might be wrong though.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

With Swift variant RSt with the 1.0L boosterjet ( weight-930 kg) and available only in 6AT configuration it is almost ( just short of being official) certain the SWIFT SPORT to be in the pipe line.

With a more powerful engine than the current Swift Sport (1.6 NA engine) SUZUKI is expected to announce the SWIFT SPORT Configuration at the Upcoming TOKYO AUTO SALON in mid January.

Meanwhile the 2017 SWIFT SPORT is rendered,

If the new Swift comes with a 1.6 DDiS, I'm buying. Anyone has an idea, if it might?

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

Next-gen Suzuki Swift Sport will be launched in the market in H2 2017, and the reports are that it could be considered for India. The performance variant is currently undergoing road testing.

Internationally, the next-gen Suzuki Swift Sport is set to be offered with the 1.4-litre BOOSTERJET turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine of the Suzuki Vitara.

This engine could be very expensive for the Swift Sport India, probably the 1.0-litre BOOSTERJET turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine of the upcoming Maruti Baleno RS would be a much more sensible choice, after necessary upgrades. Besides better performance and sportier styling compared to the standard variant, the Sport variant could come with some exclusive interior features, colour inserts, sports seats and aluminium pedals.

The catch here is the 1.0L boosterjet is only in the 6AT configuration and will be offered in India as a Swift Variant, Most Probably called the Swift RSt!

The SWift Sport will be offered in the 1.4L boosterjet ( likely even in India) as it will come in a MT configuration and will of course be the highest variant of Swift, price-wise.

Further details of this can be known mid Jan-17.

I really like the new swift. The front looks attractive while the side profile retains first generation swift look. The rear is a little plane. The interiors are a huge step in the positive direction which is great. This in the 1.4 version turbo petrol will be a hoot to drive and I will be in line for one in this version if and when it comes to India

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

How is the power to weight ratio for the car for 1.4 Turbo petrol version. I hope its not too light not to withstand the power from that engine.

Just for argument's sake, if this version makes it to India; will this metric (power/weight) remain same between the Indian specc'ed versus the international version?

The last rendering for 2016 from TheophilusChin is a Swift Roadster!

Was going to call this the new Suzuki Cappuccino but thought the name Swift Roadster is more appropriate. Anyway this is my last rendering of 2016. See you again in 2017!

Suzuki does sell a 136 ps/1045 kg Swift Sport 1.6 NA alongside 90 ps/1030 kg Swift 1.2 NA for the UK an European markets. So they are able to sell one with high power to weight ratio.

Whether they'd sell in India is a different matter There have been reports about Swift Sport variants in India for about 10 years now.
