The question was more on the weight of the Indian Swift compared to international variants. Imagine the same 136 ps weight much lesser in India! The power to weight ratio will be much better, but will it see a better road manners? Or simply put, will it feel safe & fun when making use of all that power available under the hood?!

PS : I remember my first gen Swift D feeling quite nervous after 120 kmph; this after upsizing the tyres to 185 profile from the stock 165 ones. And the brakes were still not so confidence inspiring at high speeds (the ABS was a boon though). There is no point in launching a Swift Sports if the whole of the car doesn't complement the additional power. And after paying a premium (supposedly) for this variant, I wouldn't be comfortable spending on additional mods (read as bigger tyres + suspension + skirts + spoiler + brakes etc)! I really hope they launch a really "accomplished" sports variant, if they ever!

From the pics, the new gen Swift looks good to me. A bit of freshness and difference from that conventional frog type design, this one is looking a bit mature as well.

I hope they price it well, especially the petrol variant.

PS - On other note, any existing Swift petrol model owner with CNG Kit? How the engine behaves on CNG fuel?

+1. This is what I was thinking about. May be Maruti will push the 1L Booster Jet with a 100bhp on to the Indian swift with a Swift Sport Tag and keep the regular 1.2 K series for the standard Swift.

Even in that scenario we should see a 1.2 TSI/105 BHP VW vs the 1L/100BHP swift for the same metrics.

OT: Would be fun to see how the Figo 1L Ecoboost shows-up on the comparison table!

What a beauty, especially that blue colour which I am pretty sure is looking different (shade and feel wise) in the real world.

The pulpy and round look of the Swift is gone finally.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

This is one car where I go back & forth on liking it & disliking it. Guess it has to do more with the colors. The red one looks HAWT! I hope they keep the chrome minimal and the red & black combo is very lovely. Hope they keep that FTD quotient from gen 1 intact! I so want that turbo thrust back!

Agree the swift in red and in blue look really hot especially with that red line on the front grill. With the 1.4 Turbo petrol this will be one hot hatch to drive.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

Suzuki 2017 Swift goes on sale at dealerships in Japan.

Speculated to be in the top 5 bestsellers in Japan - 2017. Walk around videos indicate the overall stance including interiors of the Swift.

Suzuki is well known for pinching the pennies in the interior department, but the Swift isn't that bad, certainly better the Ford Ka+/FIGO
Quote:
The 2017 Swift uses 17% ultra-high tensile steel which is three times more than in the previous generation. The suspension type is unchanged, with McPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear. Also, the RS model has different tuning, along with wider 185/55 R16 wheels and tires.
Quote:
The Swift interior uses a cylinder motif for the air conditioning vents, controls, and dials. Suzuki specially developed a new type of low-resilience urethane seat that supports the body while maintaining a stable sitting posture

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

2017 Swift's rear actually makes the Toyota Etios Liva look better.
Toyota should in fact thank Suzuki that they took them as an inspiration.

That said, it still appears to be a desirable car to own. The interiors are droolworthy too. Steering and those lovely bucket seats looks sporty as well. Hope they carry them to the Indian version as well.

Rear seats look the same and so does the leg space.
Appears to be still a difficult car for rear ingress/egress.

One huge improvement is the boot space. I wonder how did they managed that. The bumper's edge is also poking outwards unlike the current model which is exactly in line with the hatch door.

The rear looks will be its achilles' heel though.

All in all, not so much disappointed with the facelift, provided the Indian model looks equally good as well, except the alloys which I believe will be 15 inchers and no where close to the gorgeous 16 inchers in the above video.

Wow. The Swift looks HOT in Black. Hope we get the same set of interiors in India.

I want to swap this Steering wheel onto my Baleno (if possible)
