Masterpiece indeed. One of those few launches where you go back and look at the pics again

Skoda has arguably the best looking or among the better looking cars in each segment in India right now. And this truly can be a game changer for them.

But if most people can't trust their dealerships with even a Fabia, it would take b**ls of steel to invest money in the Kodiaq.

But still, what a gorgeous design! *sigh*

1.Comes with the segment's largest boot, helped in part by the car's generous overall dimensions of 4.70 meters (15.41 ft) in length. Its wheelbase measures 2,791 mm (109.8 inches).
The best-in-class boot measures from 720 liters (25.4 cu.ft) to 2,065 liters (72.9 cu.ft), and if the optional folding passenger seat is chosen, the Kodiaq can transport items up to 2.80 meters (9.1 feet) long.

2. No fewer than five powertrains (2x TDI, 3x TSI) currently make up the range, with power output ranging from 125 PS (92 kW) to 190 PS (140 kW). All power units feature a Stop-Start system, brake energy recovery and a thermo-management system helping the car achieve better fuel consumption.

3. Transmissions- A 6 speed MT, 6 Speed DSG and a new 7 speed DSG making debut in Skoda

4. The entry level AWD in diesel will be offered in a 6 Speed MT or the 7 speed DSG while the FWD will be offered in the 7 DSG only

My God. I always salivate at Skoda cars. This is one company I wish corrects its behaviour regarding customer facing tasks. Even without that I really wish to own this. A little BMWish in the tail but BMW has actually become boxier and lost its tight strung look compared to this. Grill is a little too ornamented and should have been a little macho.

Not sure if they are encouraged to get inspired by Audi design deliberately

On the pricing front, I guess this would slot in above the Superb at around 35 lacs.

Very handsome and desirable looking vehicle. I haven't felt so excited for a new SUV in a long time. Of course, there are many SUVs/Crossovers in the market but most of them do not strike a good balance between modern styling, size, and macho/rugged looks. I just hope that they will price it sensibly.

Wow.... After a very long time this car has got me excited. I own one and half year old Octavia and I am sure when this car is launched the famous itch to change will start for me. It seems to be perfect blend of practicality, style and luxury. Eagerly waiting for its India launch. I hope that prices are also attractive when launched!

Sales in Europe and UK expected to start in March 2017. Prices to be revealed at the Paris Motor Show. Pricing in these markets to be aggressive undercutting its closest rivals. Will be close to its Sedan Superb.



China sales and possibility India too will be in late 2017 ( Sept-Oct).

If confirmed, those figures substantially undercut the pricing of rivals such as the Nissan X-Trail, Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe.

sources suggest an entry-level model will be priced closely to the equivalent Skoda Superb at around £22,500, with mid-spec cars starting from £26,500, and the top-end model with the seven-seat option rising to over £35,000.

Petrol engines -

There are two 1.4-litre petrol engines and one 2.0-litre petrol. The entry-level engine produces 123bhp and 148lb ft of torque and averages 47.0mpg while emitting 140g/km of CO2. The more powerful 1.4-litre engine, which features fuel-saving active cylinder technology, has 148bhp and 184lb ft of torque.

CNBC reveals more details / speculation of the Kodaiq - India plans.

Kodiaq to be assembled in their Aurangabad facility in Q3- 2017.

From what we hear, the Skoda Kodiaq with the 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine with the 7-speed DSG will be coming to India in August/September, 2017 after Europe gets the SUV in March 2017. India might get the petrol version later. China will see the Skoda Kodiaq in the second quarter of 2017. The production of the Skoda Kodiaq will begin in October this year. As far as guesses go, we believe the prices will be in the range of ₹ 25-30 lakh.
