IMO still higher than what it commands. Reduce the price by Rs 50k for each variant and then it becomes appealing similar to Nexon. This will also give them scope to gradually increase the price later on after it has established itself in the market.
I just hope that they give us a surprise and NOT stick to 16-21 OTR prices.

These seems too Optimistic - Seeing the interior quality and that the engine and gearbox is from Fiat (same as Compass, though lower state of tune). In fact the torque value is same at 350Nm (at 1750-2500 rpm), whereas in the Compass the torque is also 350 Nm but the range of rpm may be 1750-3000 rpm - hence the higher power output.

My guess on pricing (ex-showroom) is:
XE 12.99
XM 14.99
XT 16.99
XZ 18.49

But I guess the price reveal will happen only in January and we will only get the Auto Journo reviews out tomorrow. I hope that we also get the TBHP media drive review also soon!

18.49 ex-showroom for XZ variant would work out to be about 23L here in Bengaluru. This is Innova territory.
Whereas 21 OTR for XZ variant would work out to be about 17L ex-showroom in Bengaluru.

I think you are spot on. This pricing will make it seem very VFM without compromising on quality and a sane pricing for a 5 seater SUV albeit a large one. Most importantly it will be close to the Nexon's pricing thus encouraging cross sell/up sell. Now I wish they get the 7 seater too in the market and shake up the entire market

Wishful prediction INHO, It is going to be 13-18 Ex Showroom (exactly sandwiched between Creta and Compass) to be at par with TATA's own claim of 16-21L OTR.

Lots of speculations, high amount of anticipation. One thing is for sure, TATA surely maintained the buzz around the vehicle by revealing things about the car at the right time. I hope they don't overdo this, by delaying AT, Sunroof, AWD (things that being missed at launch).

They have to offer a starting price less to make it attractive, that is the reason of 11.99 L for XE

Features difference between XE and XM do not command more than 60-70K premium.

Between XM and XT there are significant differences in features and 1-1.5 L difference is acceptable.

Between XT and XZ again there are significant differences in features and 1.5 L difference is acceptable.

From what I have heard and shared earlier, the previously revealed prices are correct or at least in the ballpark. Whether that includes the AT (to be launched 5-6 months later) remains to be seen.

I don't mind the price of 21L on road, BUT it should include everything like the sun roof, auto transmission, contrast roof color, more color options and fancier alloys.

AND A WORKING HAND REST PLEASE!!!

Saw a few of the videos and the hand rest is not adjustable. With the seat moved forward, the hand rest is unusable. Couple that with the auto box and suddenly it becomes very awkward for the left hand.

Tata Harrier AWD: Don't Wait For it

Considering the facts that Tata’s new flagship SUV, the Harrier is underpinned by a reworked Land Rover Discovery Sport platform and powered by the same powertrain as the Jeep Compass, you would think that the SUV is pretty much 4WD ready. But Tata has confirmed that it has no plans of bringing in a 4WD version of the Harrier at least in the foreseeable future.

Tata Harrier
Tata has attributed its apprehension of developing a 4WD Harrier to the demand for 4WD vehicles or rather the lack of it. The carmaker says that 4WD SUVs make up for only 2 per cent of the Indian SUV market. And that too because quite a few SUVs are offered with 4X4 as default. In the Harrier’s segment, the number is even lower.

In my understanding Tata Harrier has the most expensive front bumper ever!

With the headlights integrated into the front bumper, i believe, makes it the most expensive to replace. Considering the Indian driving habits and front bumpers taking a beating, i can see a revised front look in face lift model of Harrier in coming years!

On a serious note, Kudos to Tata for making an awesome looking SUV. Hopefully it'll sell better.

On the other hand they have an MUV which is more off-road capable (which the target buyers may never appreciate). This is poor product planning by Tata.

re: Tata H5X Concept @ Auto Expo 2018. Named Tata Harrier! EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 12.69 lakhs

In the pictures on the official website, the car looks very well finished. Wish Tata good luck selling volumes so that they can launch more variants/upgrades soon!

I am disappointed with the omission of some basics - 1) No 3 point seat belt for center passenger 2) no ISOfix seats for lower variants (children of folks who buy lower variants are less valuable?) 3) lack of disc brakes - seriously Tata? what were you thinking? 4) no rear defoggers for lower variants. And please let's not rationalize this as what the consumer wants / cost etc.
We expect more from Tata - period.

As a Tata fanboy and someone who was expecting a truly world class product (all variants), this leaves me underwhelmed.

I am not surprised at the lack of Petrol / AWD / Auto variants. Even JLR from whom Tata is taking a lot of inspiration and know-how has traditionally struggled with launching multiple variants. I remember the Ingenium engine came out in Petrol guise a good 1-2 years after the diesel was launched. Or for that matter - XE is still a one body style car where other competitors have 4 (sedan/wagon/coupe/cabriolet)
