I think this is more or less a good price as its slightly more than the Nexon but the gap is not much. Now please get the 7 seater too to complete the Turnaround 2.0 lineup.

All the marketing foreplay is finally over. I think the pricing looks great. Hope they iron out the fit and finish issues along with the noise insulation.

What I'm really looking forward to next is the XZ+ and XZA+ variants and a petrol option. That would be perfect and a complete product lineup.

Decent pricing, has the potential to make some dent in Creta's sale in its honeymoon period, specially the top end specs of the creta. Top end Creta in Bangalore retails at 19.1L & the top end harrier retails for 20.5L. For the additional dough you do get a bigger butch and higher powered SUV but not without its own kinks. Hyundai should think about the top end automatic which is one thing Harrier lacks. Interestingly the pricing might cannibalize its own sibling the Hexa to some extent. Unless someone wants a people mover consciously, harrier might prove an interesting alternative for them. I believe the other cars that will take some hit in Harrier's honeymoon period are the XUV & the Jeep Compass.

While Creta is smaller/lesser powered, the refinement and ease of driving can't be matched by any of it's competitor. Majority of the Creta owners whom I know have bought it for these factors than power/size. Tata has a beautiful product in hand and hope they don't play spoilsport as they did with Hexa.

Never. They always said 16-21 OTR. Infact they have under-cut that by little margin.

As expected that 16-21 was indeed a ploy to set expectations right and now they have indeed priced it lower(marginally). OTR delhi would be around 15.5L- 19.5L, giving them enough room to place a XZ+ variant with sunroof and other goodies realistically. I think the pricing is good enough considering its pretty close to the smaller CRETA. Expect this to do better than both COMPASS & XUV now. All the best TATA

BTW folks who already booked it here on Team-BHP, what's your take? Continuing with it or cancelling or awaiting a test drive?

Re: Tata H5X Concept @ Auto Expo 2018. Named Tata Harrier! EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 12.69 lakhs

Saw the Harrier in person at KHT motors, Domlur. Boy, it's huge. Doors are not heavy, but close in an assured fashion. Interiors including the leather seats look good. Boot is a bit disappointing for the size of the car I felt. Noticed one small bit of plastic cladding poorly fitted above left front wheel. Otherwise, fit and panel gaps seem ok on a quick look around. They have got just 2 cars for display. Test drive vehicles expected by end of month.

Re: Tata H5X Concept @ Auto Expo 2018. Named Tata Harrier! EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 12.69 lakhs

Given below is the (estimated) On-Road Price in Bangalore of TATA Harrier, Hyundai Creta, XUV500 and Jeep Compass.

For this comparison I have considered only the top-end, non-AT, non-AWD models from the competitors stables.

Currently Harrier sits between the Creta and the XUV500. With the introduction of the AT sometime in the future it should be on par with the XUV500.

Agree that the pricing is just about right when looked at in isolation. But it becomes mouthwatering when compared with the similarly priced yet much smaller Creta. Looks like Tata is smartly riding Hyundai's pricing to its advantage. At this price point, the only vehicle a budget-minded common man will consider VFM is the XUV. Both the Creta and Compass might simply be dismissed as expensive propositions.

Also, I like the fact that the base variant gets most, if not all, safety options and all the comfort/luxury oriented features reserved to the higher variants.

Please tell me they have a different color than Orange. I am beginning to feel giddy with this overdose of Orange. I might visit KHT sometime this week or next.

Re: Tata H5X Concept @ Auto Expo 2018. Named Tata Harrier! EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 12.69 lakhs

Good pricing and on the expected lines. Good gesture of delivering some units on the day of launch and on the stage.

Will it affect:
Creta? Will be an interesting fight Creta has an advantage here IMO as a brand
XUV 5OO? Harrier will take a fair share from it IMO
Duster? This will also be affected IMO
Compass? It will become a niche car now

"Bring the AT soon Tata!"

Re: Tata H5X Concept @ Auto Expo 2018. Named Tata Harrier! EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 12.69 lakhs

Pricing is best described as acceptable IMHO. I wouldn't term it aggressive or shocker as some of us were expecting, especially considering the barebones XE. It is not overpriced or pricey, but its no way the sticker price of a Creta Killer expecting to knockout in Round One. The Harrier starts above the middle order of Creta (including Creta Petrol Base variant, of course). This is how the Harrier stacks up against competition.

The entry price of Hexa, XUV and Harrier are head to head. The variants across these three cars (from base to top) literally overlap in price. The narrow bandwidth that harrier occupies indicates space available further north for the XZA later.

I have taken the dealer quoted prices from Car Dekho as on date. The bandwidth covers the cheapest variant (Petrol/Diesel) to topmost variant.

All prices are ON ROAD DELHI

Re: Tata H5X Concept @ Auto Expo 2018. Named Tata Harrier! EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 12.69 lakhs

After the Tata Harrier...I feel now its Hector's turn to retaliate with low pricing and big size.

I'm sure with Tata Harrier's pricing, it must be tough for people there in MG motors to price their first model aggressively [Harrier < Hector < Compass ]

I wonder, if a new entrant comes with features loaded and competitive pricing, would customers (actual customers - mostly unaware of the brand) buy the vehicles ?

Would features or price (lower than established competitor models) play an important role for one to choose a new brand over other established brands ?

Off Topic...considering such large SUVs being introduced in the market, there's already a slow down with larger vehicles especially in cities.. would these large SUV / Sedans click with Urban customers (metros primarily)
e.g: B'lore or Mumbai have traffic woes

Nobody is even considering new born Kicks in this comparison.

This post might seem irrelevant but shows how it is important to be in wish-list of prospective buyers.

Very True, reminds on of Tata's old adage, 'More car, per car!'

In terms of a 5 seat SUV above 12 lacs, the Harrier value proposition is unmatched.

The product department has delivered an excellent package, now the onus is on rest of Tata Motors to get everything else right, from the Sales experience to ASS. If the company wants to do volumes even after the novelty wears thin, getting these right is absolutely important. Especially for consumers in this pricing bracket.

Promising start to 2019 nonetheless!
