| ![]() Is there any possibility that Skoda introduces the revised 1.0, 1.5 L TSI petrol engines to their existing lineup before the April 2020 BS6 cutoff? ![]() I think their existing engine options like the 1.4, 1.8 L TSI are/were being sold as Euro 6 compliant in certain markets but haven't heard them advertising these as BS6 ready so far. |

So in India I guess it would be 1.0 for Vento/Rapid and 1.5/2.0 for Octavia.

My research so far indicates that the 1.8 TSI is being phased out globally and it started around September 2018 when the WLTP changes came into effect in the EU. The Octavia would surely be upgraded to use the new powerplants but i am concerned whether this can happen with the current model that is on sale in India or would Skoda consider bringing it next year with the complete model refresh.

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Same info. reaffirmed again with some new insights. -Volkswagen to ramp up localisation to 92% over the next two-three years (current 82 per cent ) -Strategic priorities in the domestic market to focus on -- people, brand, network, corporate business, loyalty and digitalisation. - First product under India 2.0 was expected to hit the roads by 2020. ( earlier announcement was 2021) - The new products rolled out in India would be under the company's MQB Platform - Marketshare from the current 1.4 per cent to 3 per cent in two-three years -Expanding retail touch points from the current 120 to 150. - Volkswagen would come out with a sub-compact sports utility vehicle. -On EV -there is no offer in the market. It is purely aspirational and it is in the right direction. but you have to see the market environment. The infrastructure is not here. Link |

| ![]() Looks like they are not serious about their India 2.0 plan. They are suppose to be global biggie and have 2 mass market brands in India (VW and Skoda) June 2019 Indian car sales ~ 220000 units VW + Skoda combined sale ~ 3500 units ~ 1.5% share Target share within 3 years ~ 3% ~ just 7000 units that too VW and Skoda combined! | ![]() ^^ This is in sync with the earlier statement that the Karoq will be launched in first half of 2020. I hope that it undercuts the Tiguan by a significant margin and competes with the Jeep Compass which will be fair. |
