Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() EXCLUSIVE details of future products from VAG for S American Markets and India. - A0 SUV project hits the market in 2022 using simplified MQB platform, derived from Skoda brand products developed for India - Base of the project originates from India, the visual inspiration seems to come from Europe. - A0 SUV will be a subcompact sport utility vehicle with popular appeal (Remember TAIGUN?) - The new generation of Skoda Fabia - Subcompact hatch from the Czech brand (subsidiary of the group) positioned below the VW Polo. -The new Fabia will be responsible for debuting a family of subcompacts using a simplified version of the MQB A0 platform, known as MQB A0 IN. -From this base, a small SUV should also emerge, whose provisional name is Skoda Polar, created to measure to fight with Hyundai Venue, Toyota Raize and company. -In common, all these models respect the limit of 4 meters in length required to guarantee a softer tax burden in the commercialization within the Indian market. -For Brazil: MQB AO IN is most likely the matrix of the aforementioned - firsthand - A0 SUV project , which will be produced in Taubaté (SP). The launch will take place in 2022. -Like the new Fabia and Polar, our (Brazilian) VW A0 SUV should be at the limit of 3.99 meters in length and have a wheelbase in the range of 2.50 to 2.53 meters. | ![]() TIGUAN and now TAIGUN, what an unimpressive name. They just rearranged texts to make a new name. |

| ![]() I still feel they should have launched only One SUV (Taigun or Skoda) and not both, as they will again be practically the same and maybe without enough differentiating traits, like in older VAG products like Vento & Rapid. Creta and Seltos are also the similar, but both clearly different in looks and driving feel (not sure how next gen creta would be). Just my opinion. | ![]() Precisely, so what exactly is the 'World Premiere' they were touting!! From the looks of the rear quarter, it should be about 4m, perhaps just under. That's a cut throat segment where VW/Skoda will hardly stand a chance. IIRC, this was even acknowledged by their bosses a year ago. Although I'm personally interested only in this segment, for their own sake, I wish the duo start from Creta territory upwards. |

Team-BHP Support ![]() ![]() | ![]() The Taigun is different from what was initially planned long back. This one is 4.25m length and is essentially the VW T-cross from other countries but this is the longer Chinese and Brazil version which is 100mm longer than European version. Looks like Taigun and Vision IN will be similar cars based on updated MQB-A0 IN platform. Overall will be marginally smaller than Creta by the looks. I think they struck a good balance and found a good car for our market. If competitively priced and with the 1.5L TSI (130bhp lower tune most likely) and 7 speed DSG, this will be a very nice option for many. |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Skoda plans 30 new models by 2022 (worldwide) - Wants to sell two million cars per year by end of the decade - A mix of new models and derivatives, and 10 of them will be partially or fully electrified - The first cars as part of that plan will be a production version of the Vision IN concept in 2021 - The Vision IN will also be exported to Mexico, but not to any European countries, at least initially. -Near future will see the company launch a new plug-in hybrid version of the Skoda Octavia vRS, plus two derivatives of a fully electric crossover based on the Group’s MEB platform -New generations of some of Skoda’s core models, such as the Fabia and Superb, are also in the pipeline and will launch towards the end of the time frame Link |
