› 25,770 photovoltaic panels covering 63,000 m² of available roof space produce 12.2 million kWh of energy annually

ŠKODA AUTO Volkswagen India Private Limited has commissioned one of the largest solar-power rooftop systems in India at its plant in Chakan, Pune. Together with its partner Amp Energy, the car manufacturer has installed a total of 25,770 photovoltaic panels. Amp Energy is a global company that develops flexible and clean energy infrastructure. The installation will cover up to 15 per cent of the site’s annual electricity requirements, and the panels have a maximum output of 8.5 megawatts. By putting the system into operation, the company is reducing its dependence on non-renewable energy at its Pune site and creating an important prerequisite for the plant’s carbon neutrality.

New Skoda Rapid for India will be a notch-back and will debut in late 2021.

Volkswagen will have its own version basedon the Virtus, around the same time-frame.

Skoda KAMIQ based S/CUV will debut in Q2 / April-June 2021.

Skoda Kamiq based on MQB A0 IN platform will be displayed at 2020 Auto Expo. Whether it'll be a concept or a full scale "near - to - production" mockup is not known yet.

Skoda will reveals its models at the Auto Expo 2020.

1. Skoda Vision IN concept : Based on KAMIQ the CUV will take on Kia Seltos and Hyundai's Creta.

2. Skoda Karoq : Coming in April-20 as a CBU, the Karoq will be subsequently assembled in India after a year of its launch.


3. 2020 Skoda Rapid (facelift): With cosmetic changes the most important will be its new powertrain - the locally developed 1.0L TSI engine.

4. 2020 Skoda Superb (facelift): The facelifted Skoda Superb will be launched in India in May next-year. Will be offered with a 2.0L TSI petrol engine at launch. A 2.0L diesel engine option could be introduced later in 2021

5. Skoda Octavia RS 245 - Will sell 200 units of the new Octavia RS on popular demand as CBU's.

Any information if Skoda will be introducing Karoq in diesel form at launch? If so, would it be the ubiquitous 2.0TDi or some other mill.

It is highly unlikely that we would see the TDI range of engines going forward. Karoq will come with a 1.5 TSI engine. That will be a sole offering initially.

The Diesel engines will be launched from 2021 in VAG cars. But then Euro-6 1.6TDI may not be launched. So the Karoq may not get a diesel engine at all. VAG may only get the 2.0TDI Euro-6 in their cars from 2021.

Skoda will unveils its next Gen products for India starting with its KAMIQ based CUV ( Skoda Vision IN concept) on Feb-03. Public debut will be on Feb-07.

The production-spec Skoda Vision IN SUV will launch in India sometime between April-June 2021.

The approximately 4.26-metre-long concept study is a forerunner of a compact SUV designed especially for the Indian market, the production of which will start in 2020. The VISION IN will make its first public appearance at Auto Expo 2020 in New Delhi

In addition to a wide bonnet, a large ŠKODA grille with solid ribs shapes the visual impression. The upper, very flat units of the split headlights progress directly to the grille. Beneath is a robustly designed front apron with large side air intakes and a massive front spoiler made of aluminium.

The second sketch illustrates a clearly structured, distinctive rear with sharply contoured, three-dimensional rear lights; an additional horizontal light strip connects the reflectors. Illuminated ŠKODA lettering is prominently positioned in the centre of the rear; an aluminium diffuser is integrated into the rear apron underneath.

Several cross-brand ŠKODA and Volkswagen models will be created based on the MQB A0 IN variant of the Modular Transverse Matrix, which the Czech car manufacturer is developing with a focus on India and Indian customers. The new localised sub-compact platform is being showcased for the first time in the ŠKODA VISION IN.

This looks great. Hope the production version is similar to concept. Skoda / Volkswagen are late to the suv party, but give their investment in new platform and number of products in their lineup to be launched - it should be a good 2021/22 for them. However, they have not said a word regarding their useless ASS or thin presence of showroom / service center pan India
