Not surprised as to the negative review.

I guess, if you go to every nook and corner of the internet (Carwale is even worse than a trashcan) to find a negative review, you'll find a negative review of everything under the sun.

Kia has , in its mind, concluded that its only rival is the Hector, and its gone no ends to try and beat it, by all means, fair and unfair. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be one of the Kia dealers/salesmen.

I'll quote my own post from the other thread.

Don't think anyone is so desperate to own a Hector by paying a premium.

Re: MG India's first SUV named Hector. Edit: Launched @ 12.18L

I'm looking for a replacement for my Ecosport and 95% of my time is spent in the back seat. Hector and Seltos were my choices.

IMO Seltos has a better cabin feel and definitely better seats. But Hector scores heavily in the space available, especially in the rear. If only there is a way to improve the rear seat comfort...

And with Seltos not offering 6 airbags on the diesel top end, the wait continues.

This and the callous attitude of the showroom salesman made me simply run away from MG. I simply could not come to terms with a slow loading screen, it seemed to dangerous to use as I have the tendancy to complete a screen-task that I set out to do ... if there's a delay, my attention is diverted and that's no good!

Wondering what happens if the electronic parking brake is released? Do the wheels remain locked or car starts rolling as if it is in neutral.

My TD car did not have any rolling when I put it on P towards the end of my drive. I might go again next week. Will make sure to check it if I end up going.

It seems there are countless disappointed prospective customers of Harrier, Hector and Seltos. The Harrier has many initial niggles and ergonomic issues plus the absent AT, the Hector (though a great value prop for the price) did not satisfy us driving enthusiasts and did not offer a Diesel AT. The Seltos messed up its variant distribution so badly that it at once bizarre, illogical and disappointing for Diesel customers.

I guess the next hope for this group will be the Skoda -VW T Cross twins. These seem to have everything right, the quality, fit and finish, drivability and looks. But there is a long wait ahead and the high likelihood that VW will take pricing too high to be seriously considered - much like Honda will probably do for the WRV ( the reason why I did not even mention WRV as an alternative).

Agree with you. Launch after launch, the excitement is going down. No manufacturer is able to provide an all-rounder that is fun to drive, spacious and feature-loaded.

If you look at it, all these cars have one thing in common which also contributes to the dissatisfaction apart from the screwed up drivetrain and feature combinations. None of these brands, apart from VW, have the desirability factor associated with a 20 lakh rupee purchase. Even VW is slowly losing its place in the hearts of enthusiasts due to their lacklustre attitude towards our market.

HR-V, not the WR-V.

Re: MG India's first SUV named Hector. Edit: Launched @ 12.18L

The all rounder in this segment is still the decade old XUV500. It has the aggressive looks , flexibility of seven seater, price is on par, diesel automatic with full safety suite, all wheel drive,is quick, and is backed by an Indian manufacturer who will be here for the eternity.

It is really confusing, how all these international manufacturers are still struggling to get it right, when Mahindra got everything perfect except for the weird door handles, a decade ago.

Falling coconuts are a reality. Just see the damage on the sunroof.

Nope. As far as GM connection goes, the Hector is same as the latest-gen Captiva sold in ASEAN and some South American markets.

It is also sold as Wuling Almas in Indonesia and Baojun 530 in China.

Just took delivery of my new hector. The hybrid smart version.
Attaching some pics.
First impressions are good.
After driving the ameo petrol this engine also feels decently powered.

Saw it at T3 Delhi just now. That screen is huge. From far the car looks small, but closing up it is big. Interiors were plush luxurious. Driver seat was comfortable, shifter felt notchy. Well finished product. Looks new and clean sharp lines. Not soft and gentle cuts.
