I hope it is the picture that could have been taken on an uneven surface and it does not look like this in person.

Press release from MSIL. They clearly call it a mini-SUV :

That is a design intent that all genuine SUVs have where in the wheel arches are rectangular and have a beefy clearance from tyres. The visibility of mechanicals add to the charm of a true SUV. However, I am throwing up in my mouth even thinking of this contraption as an SUV.

Clearly the pic is from from test run, not a photo shoot. I suspect it's missing wheel arch cladding, which should be standard. I imagine it won't be that awkward to look at with wheel arch, and possibly side body cladding.

I sincerely hope so. However I have little faith after buying Maruti A segment cars. My brand new Alto 2007 even missed suzuki logo on the steering wheel as they might have run out of it to meet production. I won't be surprised if the first several batches look like this.

Being cheap. Ignis starts at 4.8 odd lakhs. This is going to start atleast 1.5 lakhs cheaper than that. This will directly compete with kwid which starts at 2.8 odd lakhs. It goes well with Suzuki's typical strategy of having cars with multiple body shell styles for every price bracket.

I am looking at a small petrol automatic car to drive to office. I have shortlisted Alto and Kwid. Not sure if I need to wait for this ! If only one had a CVT :(

Ugly cars are being made and people will buy them because they are going to be cheap with no alternatives.

Actually these type of images are ALWAYS long distance shots taken of the factory yard in Manesar/Gurgaon/Gujrat. On absolutely flat huge open air storage facilities after assembly line.

The picture if unedited would have shown hundreds of cars parked tightly around this one awaiting dispatch. No test mule runs with seat wraps. This is a customer piece awaiting product launch. So the wheel well will mostly look like this in this trim at least on start of deliveries.

The only other possibility is - some other car in the yard was blocking some parts of the car in line of sight (like one of the front or rear wheels) & that has been photoshop plugged into the image. If you see closely - the front and rear wheels appear quite different in diameter. So its Photoshopped in one of those 2.

re: Maruti S-Presso, the SUV'ish hatchback. EDIT : Launched at Rs. 3.69 lakhs

Suzuki is trying to say "we can make/sell any car as long as long as it is called SUV" with a little inspiration from Mr.Henry Ford. And if Millenials don't buy it, it is their problem, not Mr.R.C.Bhargava's.

Wonder where this will be placed in the Product line-up. Is there a slot between Alto and WagonR? Or is this replacing the Alto in a few years?? I am very sure some product lines will get axed in this slow-down time.
