Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

Seems to be heavily influenced by the TATA Punch or maybe TATA got hold of their design early and won the race to the launch.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

How much money are they going to save with those eyesore flap handles while running the risk of creating a cheapo image in market?
Also, IIRC, there is no automatic AC either.

They should remember that Indians (or people anywhere) want their cars cheap but not cheap-feeling.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

This follows the same design language as the Tata Punch, what’s good here is that it’s being offered with a 1.2 turbo petrol, do we know if it’s sourced from some manufacturer, really want to know about the power delivery to gain some more perspective.

Also, from the pictures I noticed the wheel caps, no request sensors on the door handles although they are flap types and turn signals on the fender instead of ORVMs. Don’t they generally test the higher variants? If it is the higher variant this seriously falls behind on the feature list.

Even with all this it somehow still looks appealing to me, hope there is more to it.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

Hoping it has
1) 5star safety
2) A weighted feelsome steering wheel.
3) Good brakes
4) Decent speakers (at least on the mid-top end variants)

P.S: I sincerely think the door handle thingy is being blown out of proportion. Is it really that big of an issue?

To my eyes, this is unmistakably French, below is the C4 from 2015 for reference.

Hope 100+ bhp and XUV 700 like aggressive pricing makes us forget all the shortcomings.

Usually it is the other way round. Numerous manufacturers have used PSA tech, and I believe the C3 would come PSA's own engines.

Just hope it sets new standards for ride comfort in the sub 10lakhs segment.
Only if it had a 1.5l oil burner.

Just a few things should happen. The day Maruti's cheapest cars get pull type handles. Other premium manufcaturers follow BMW's lead and brings back flap handles, Some 10 years should pass so Indians start looking at flap handles with nostalgia instead of derision. Till then, flap handles will be blown out of proportion just like centrally mounted instrument clusters.

There is an overall Renault Kwid feel to this vehicle, a forceful cost cutting to achieve a price point than providing a complete vehicle to the customer.

GOD that is one cheapo "new car" from the French newcomer. I mean, really? After an overpriced ~40L crossover, this is what you're giving us next? That isolated keyhole alone made me cringe. The steelies and garish plasti-chrome garnishings peppered all over are another matter.

Real talk: anything over 8L on-road, they're pricing themselves out of competition again, just like they did with the C5 Aircross.

The new C3 will be a compact SUV, which will replace the old C3 and C3 Aircross discontinued in Brazil in 2021 and Argentina this year.

The old C3 and C3 Aircross went out of line in the porteño country due to new safety regulations. There, neither model complied with the new mandatory stability control (ESP) regulations - valid for any zero-kilometer car sold in the country. Presented in the form of a pre-series unit, the new Citroën C3 will be equipped with serial control and stability there. It remains to be seen if in Brazil the model will come with the item in all versions.
No news about side airbags and head protection.

The Tata HBX will have a tough time to differentiate itself from this one.

Outer shape in my opinion is 70% similar, with some subtle differences to the roof line and dual tone paint to differentiate.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

My mom spotted the C3 SUV being tested on the Chennai Highway. No camouflage, like all the recent spy pictures.

Here is the link to the video :

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

With the Tata Punch out a few months before the C3, the initial few days will be spent spotting the differences and the similarities after the launch of the C3.

This is an interesting product to study. It comes from a manufacturer whose presence in the market right now negligible. The launch is of a product which should really help Citroen establish their presence in the market. If C3 fails for some reason, will Citroen stay in India or go?

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

I am confused by Citroen' strategy at play here! There is only a difference of 1 number in the model names of their two offerings, but it looks like there is a world of difference between the two cars.

While one is very rich and expensive (maybe VFM based on what it objectively offers in this market where everything is overpriced), the other looks distinctly 'India Inspired' and localised. And I really hate that much abused lingo when it comes to manufacturing of cars!

Let's see what's in store!
