So, looks like Skoda has kept a few surprises up its sleeves - perforated and ventilated seats, digital cockpit etc.!

Also, the pricing in your update seems much more reasonable and just what Skoda need to grab attention and early sales success. Particularly attractive is the base variant with a great, state of the art 1.0 TSI engine, a newly developed 6 speed MQ281 gearbox, a world-class safe MQB-A0 platform that has been indigenized, all for a sub 10 lakhs starting price, which brings fabulous tax benefits in many states due to going under the 10 lakh price barrier.

My observation is the VW/Skoda is a great brand for those who are budget conscious and want to go for the starting variants. I bought the lowest variant (Trendline) when the VW Polo was launched back in 2010. VW and Skoda do not compromise beyond a point in cutting corners. A lot of attention to detail to user experience and safety is built into the platform and even the base model benefits from these platform level improvements. I say this from my own experience - even the base model of the Polo had damped glove compartments, rubberized areas at the bottom of bottle and cup holders, five layers of paint, 3-stage door opening, individual adjustable headrests for rear passengers (Hyundai skips this even today, in the mid-variant of the Creta, which is priced over 15 lakhs on-road, while I spent 6 lakhs on my Polo - and the Polo Trendline is available for around 1 lakh more even today!)

As per the article, the 1.0 litre engine will only be available with the Active and Ambition variants which means people who want to get the fully loaded top end Style variant will have to spend a lot more money plus they won't get their choice of engine and gearbox. A real bummer, if true!

Great news . But it's mentioned it will arrive at a later date? How long do we have to wait?

The article sounds tentative and I can only hope this is just speculation. But if it is true, it's inexplicable and presumptuous on Skoda's part to equate a better trim to a more powerful engine alone.

To think that those looking at the 1.0 litre engine need only be interested in and settle for the lower trims will be a bizarre decision. I hope that for the sake of the majority who are looking at the 1.0 TSI (itself a fine engine in its right) and not wanting to stretch their budget to the 1.5, Skoda offers the Style trim for both engine options.

Also, hope they don't offer the Style only on the 1.0 litre torque converter.... Won't be fair on those eyeing the manual.

Anyway, here we go playing the speculation game again. Best to wait it out till month end.

+1 to That.
It doesn’t make sense from a customer perspective. Guess it makes perfect sense from Skoda perspective. I too am looking for a top of the line TC 1.0.. Guess I should start looking elsewhere (or) as you said.. Best to wait till month end and focus on other threads in TBhp

Re: Skoda Kushaq | A Close Look & Preview

Here is the most basic variant of the Kamiq. Kushaq 1.0 Active variant interior will look more or less same. Addition of black body cladding, body coloured door handles, different rear profile are the main change on the exterior.

Wheel design, infotainment, steering wheel, seat colors, black roof rail, no parcel tray etc.

Buy Kushaq base Active variant, blacken front grill, roof wrap (black) and ORVMs, change to alloy wheels, and add black-grey-red combo seat covers - There you go, Monte Carlo edition on a budget!
Full black body cladding and black roof rails are already available in Active variant.

Re: Skoda Kushaq | A Close Look & Preview

Contradicting many reports, rumors and discussions is the new Zigwheels report which audaciously says that the top end Style variant will come with all powertrain as well as transmission options.

28 June is going to be a packed day for sure if it indeed turns out to be true!

Surprisingly this piece also says that 1.5 Power Train option would be available only with the Top End variant. This would be very surprising.

Scoop! Skoda Kushaq variant details leaked ahead of launch

Skoda is set to launch its first crossover, the Kushaq in the Indian market on June 28. We already know the engines that will be on offer. Now, here are the variant details.

Skoda Kushaq | A Close Look & Preview-kushaq-variants.jpeg

The Kushaq will be offered in three variants – Active, Ambition and Style. The base trim will only be available with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Ambition variant will be offered exclusively with the 1.0-litre TSI motor. Customers will be able to choose between a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The top-spec Style variant will be available with both 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines. In addition to the aforementioned transmission options, the Style variant will also come with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The Style variant is expected to come loaded with features such as automatic LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seat, ambient lighting and a sunroof to name a few.

As we all know, the Kushaq is Skoda’s first product under the 'India 2.0' project. It is based on the MQB A0-IN platform, which is shared with its sister car, the Volkswagen Taigun.

Bookings for the Skoda Kushaq will open on June 28.

Re: Skoda Kushaq | A Close Look & Preview

If the above variant list is true, then it is a relief that common sense has prevailed at Skoda. Skoda for sure would have lost a reasonable chunk of business if they had tried to push the customer wanting a top end auto variant towards the DSG.

Glad to see the Style variant is there for 1.0L TSI with both MT and AT, IMHO, this variant is going to bring maximum sales for SKODA India.

But why no mid-variant for 1.5L TSI? Seriously SKODA..!!

Re: Skoda Kushaq | A Close Look & Preview

"Oh, they haven't launched it yet, huh?"

This is what my dad said when he saw Autocar's facebook post regarding this.

and this is what happens when you unveil a car 3 months before you finally launch it. The HYPE is sort of dead.
