- The model seen in India is a right-hand drive unit.

- Expected to come with new 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine with five-speed manual or the six-speed auto.

- Could get a bigger touchscreen than the current SUV

- Will get a manually operated transfer case for four-wheel drive

Gives me hope. Btw When is the Auto Expo 2023?
Will this 5 door Jimny just showcased at the Auto Expo like few years earlier (that was the 3 door ) or it will be launched at the Auto Expo?

If 4x4 AT option is available on the 5 door Jimny, I would surely consider this for my 5 door SUV requirement. Logic can just be left behind for a while then.
But will it be launched or just an eye candy at the AutoExpo, thats the important question.

More pics of the Jimny in India as spotted in Delhi. Reveals its road presence.
Will be retailed through Nexa by Q1 2023.

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

The 5 door model looks ungainly. The proportions seem to be quite off. The 3 door version is the cuter looking one. I'd prefer the 3 door Jimny + strong hybrid powertrain from Toyota + AT combo.

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

This seems much better than the renders floating around, which look like a stretched limousine.
The pricing is still something I am worried about.

I believe that people bought the Mahindra Thar because of it's macho appearance and wide stance.
The Jimny seems like a narrower cuter car and I expect the top end variant to be around the 15 lakh mark. I don't know if the people in India will appreciate the smaller Jimny like people in other countries. Let's see.

Hopefully Maruti will price it right. They have been on a roll lately and I am excited to see what they have to offer.

Its the pricing that makes me really worried, considering the recent launches by Maruti and the prices.
Won't be surprised this time around if Maruti prices the 5 door Jimny at par with the Mahindra Thar. A big probability it seems.
So, 16-17 lakhs ex-showroom for 4X4 AT

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

Finally Maruti is awake and bringing Jimny to India. I am really excited about this car and hope Maruti will not mess with it.

My wish list for Jimny -

1. 5 Door - 3 door is not practical for India as people love to travel with family more. They can 3 door as well, may be within 4 meters and 1.2 Liter engine. Also 5 door is more practical any day over 3 door.

2. Good build quality - Hope they will make it 4* rating car at least in terms of safety. Also fit and finish should be good.

3. Good engine - Current 1.5 Liter engine is a gem. Hope Maruti can add some more power to it, 115 - 120 BHP would be really nice.

4. Good interiors - People nowadays wants great interiors with lots of features.

5. Price - I am sure Maruti will launch it at good price. IMHO they should launch it at killer price so that it can just capture all market. Start aggressively is the key here.

This car is on my wish list for years now. Hope for the best.

Maruti Suzuki is finally bringing the 5-door Jimny to India.
I am so excited & can't wait to book this car.

Gypsy was my dream off-road car during my childhood days. Now I can buy the Jimny instead.

Has there been any official company statement regarding this or are we speculating and depending on the numerous spy shots. I for one could not find any official statement yet, perhaps I missed it.

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

I am really looking forward to the 5 door Jimny after the disastrous debut of the Grand Vitara (which my wife has vehemently rejected) . A 6 speed automatic transmission coupled with 4x4 capability and manageable size would be amazing for city as well as occasional adventures .

This article seems inaccurate insofar as the mention that only the export oriented LHD version is being made India. Multiple earlier reports have talked about the RHD version made in India and exported to UK, Australia/ New Zealand and South Africa.

Tyres look meatier than the version I drove. This is good.

Internationally it’s 5speed MT and 4 speed AT if I recall correctly. The DXB was 4 speed AT.

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

A long lost dream of owning a Jimny, this time, hope this launch news is for real.
Any proper information of its launch, I will surely convert my Grand Vitara booking to Jimny 5 door Booking.

Problem is, my ScorpioN delivery date is in between 10th January to 9th February 2023.
Atleast some proper news towards the end of year will help me make a decision.

Right now, I am just waiting to see the Grand Vitara in the Nexa Showroom to check its presence and Test drive if possible.
High probability for me canceling Grand Vitara booking.

Hope Maruti Suzuki launches 4x4 AT combination, and hopefully the 6 speed AT with Paddle Shifters.

I expect the six speed AT to come with the K15C engine as has been offered in the market and as far as the tyres Maruti Manages to put on the new jimny (3 Door export version of jimny has 195/80 R15), enthusiasts are going to swap them with all terrain versions anyways .
