What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My scorpio surprised me yesterday with a good FE figure of 10.9 kmpl. though this may not seem much, i am surprised as this was achieved in traffic congested (due to rains) mumbai roads with 100% AC. also, my driving style is not too great for good FE either!

Highway: min. 20 , driven sanely somwhere 25+kmpl.

Mix of city & highway: (65/35) ~16-17 ish.
Worst: 13.6 (first tank full, in city)
ODO 4500kms.

First Tankful
60% Highway, 40% City - 19 kmpl.

Second Tankful
85% Highway, 15% City - 20.5 kmpl

surprisingly on highways i got around 11kmpl (may be because of high speed driving ~ 150)
and some long stops due to Jams (A/C had to be on

Fuel - BP unleaded
Drive- 90% City, 10% AC
Method - tank full - tank full, same bunk
Driving style - Moderate
FE - 17.65 (466 KM / 26.40 Lit)

Distance- 574 Km
Litres- 31.4 L
Average- 18.2 Km/L

Driving - Sedate (City driving in Chandigarh, slow acceleration, speed mostly at around 60Km/h)
What are other owners getting in CHD driving.. I feel mileage is Okay but not great.
Its not hopeless traffic like Delhi etc. Any views?

C'mon, what more can you ask for? This is great mileage in city driving! In fact, while in chandigarh, I never got more than 17 in my diesel swift!

My ANHC manual in Mumbai gives an avg of 10.5 with 100% AC & 195/60 tyres.

Looks like my tone was wrong. I am not complaining, its just that 17 - 18 seems to be the normal mileage for most alto's even in crowded citys with bumper to bumper traffic.
I was just expecting more difference because of my sedate driving and estimating the conditions ahead eg. slowing before a traffic stop etc.
I am pleased with the mileage just not overthrilled

I got a highest of 22 kmpl ( with 40% AC) when driving from Alwar ( Rajasthan) to Pune in Nov 2007. My driving was like neither too heavy on left foot nor too sedate..Was infact virutally enjoying a chase with a lady driven santro from Gujarat border till Mumbai..ODO was around 70k at that time.

Least was 14.8 kmpl ( 80% AC) when I drove from Hyderabad to Pune, with my parents and better half along with whole rear boot and top carrier filled with luggage. ODO was reading around 85K at that time.

Mean while, on an average.. I easily get 17 kmpl with 100% A/c. and 19 kmpl with 60-80 % A/c. These figures are when my M800 crossed 100000 milage. Currently 106058 is the reading...

Fuel type is always regular petrol from HP or Indian Oil pumps.. Many times (95%)it is from the selected two (As I have Credit cards linked with Points.. Hence always get the taxes back) pertol pumps of each company in which ever city I am. Viz. Pune/ Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.
