yeah! you are wrong. You bros xeta is GLX which is 1.4 Peugeot engine. The lower versions are all 1.2 tata engine which usually gives 8-9 kmpl in the city. The xeta of this guy is an exception.

1.4 Peugeot engine? Is that true? I had a first generation Xeta GLS, which was 1.4. I usually got a mileage of around 11-12 in city and 14-15 on highways, and 12-13 on LPG everywhere. But my belief was that the 1.4 is from TATA itself and not a sourced one. I think 1.2 was just a scaled down version of this 1.4. Correct me if I am wrong. Also I am having friends with 1.2 Xeta who claims to get around 16-17 on an average.

The Xeta 1.4 had a tata engine. Same block as the Diesel. Tata also offererd a smaller 1.2 litre engine to avail the lower excise duty on samll cars.

@mohandos - You are right, my bro model was GLX.

@rajneeesh - 1.4 Petrol engine which comes in Xeta were sourced from Peugeot and its not TATA made, those engines are awesome and it has raw power in it. I don't understand why the hell TATA stopped selling those engines.

@Sushil - Thanks for the explanation, I drive the same way albeit i tend to cruise in the highway . Inside the city i ensure i don't cross 2000 RPM.

Hey Cam,

You need to help me here, I got a 2006 corolla H5 last month, it has done 76k kms, and I am not getting more than 11 kmpl in city, and a 70% highway run with 30% city run gave me 13kmpl,help, how do I get more.

Its true, yes even the santro I had, used to give me 11kmpl, in city with AC, but on a eco run between 60 to 80 I had got 17kmpl, otherwise highwayrun between 90 to 120 I used to get 14kmpl.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Vehicle: 2007 Ford IKON Flair.

Route: Sulthan Bathery - Bangalore - Sulthan Bathery

Kms Run: 652; 35% City and 65% Highway.

Fuel Consumed: 48.21 Liters.

Fuel Efficiency: 13.52.

This involved extreme ripping on the highway - 'all' the time. Speeds in excess of 150Km/hr. Quite happy with the figures.

11 kmpl in city is respectable for a Corolla. Though highway mileage is a bit on the lower side.
Still, mileage depends on a lot of factors and so maybe you should keep those in mind for extracting a better FE on highway.
