TDCi is an amazing engine and gives a tough competition, but wait !

Last time I checked , 35 is lesser than 36 as you are only seeing the MID values
(36.3 kmpl for my 116 km drive where the first 30 km was inside city. This number would have increased if I continued driving, as any stop and switching the engine off decreases the mileage)

Notwithstanding a heavier car and more people on board with luggage, the IDtec still wins !

I am quite sure if I'd take City IDtec for a mileage test on the Hyderabad ORR Express way with just me in the car with no luggage on a chilly night ( daytime FE tends to be lower than the nighttime FE due to cooler temperatures) , I can get the MID figure to shoot over 40 Kmpl.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I have driven iDTECH for a good 9 years and was totally spoiled by its brilliant mileage. I had the 2014 model in top trip which came with cruise control. On highways, I had to simply set the limiter to 85 kmph whenever i could and the car used to easily return 25 km/l. Bumper to bumper traffic in narrow congested Mumbai and later Gurgaon roads could still fetch a reasonable 18 km/l.

The silly 10 year rule in NCR forced me to switch to a new car and I found the XUV AX7L P AT best suited to my evolved requirements.

The car has been quite an upgrade and i am totally happy but it is a different story on the fuel economy front. The running cost has more than doubled.

Now i get ~12 km/l on highways with a mix of moderate and spirited driving ( difficult to resist the temptation and drive the turbo petrol sedately). My wife is able to manage ~14 km/l though. The car gives ~ 10 km/l in city drives.

I just posted the video for the capability of the TDCi not for direct comparison. Also the speed range mentioned by Mr.Gagan is higher than yours and also it was mentioned that it was not some planned mileage run.

I will do my own Highway Run and post the details in here .

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Bolero Neo Diesel

Try to limit the rpm to 1800 /speed to 75-80

Mostly long route travel

Currently MID shows 23.5

Highest MID reading was 24.5

MID dipped from 24.5 to 23.1 over a trip to the hills.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My Baleno 2022 AMT facelifted version gives me 14-14.5 in the city with the AC on half the time. The MID readings are a show off at 15.5 to 16 kmpl.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Crysta 2022 Diesel Automatic.

Its now at 17000 km and with the miles it has munched, the mileage has increased over the kilometers.

City: 13 to 13.5

Highways: 15 to 16.

On our recent trip to Goa. We got 15.5 on one fill and 16.11 on another. Slowly with the increasing mileage, the range has started showing at 670 to 690 km per full tank too.

This is with shorts bursts in between to higher triple digits for some fun with most of the trip being between 90 to 110 with utmost accelerator inputs in such a way that it reaches 6th and stays there.

Also I have released that cruise control is sometimes detrimental to mileage as if you set it to 90 95 and at the slightest hint of an incline it downshifts which if I hold the accelerator mildly myself in Eco mode, it stays in 6th.

All in all, having fun with the Crysta

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Car : 2019 BS6 Dzire
Usage : 60% city 40% Highway
ODO : 39200

Average City FE : 14-15
Average Highway FE : 21-23

I drive a lot on ORR Bangalore ( both sides of silk board) and my radius is from JP nagar till Nagawara. On a good day i get 17 Kmpl . On days Silk board wants to keep me hostage, it reduces drastically.

For highway runs, i am very content with the vehicle. Solo trip to Trichy and from there my native ( about 420km) with ac and lots of luggage give a modest 23. Trips to Chennai see me return with the same tank of fuel till Krishnagiri , where i fill up ( the bunk at the intersection of NH 44 and 48).

With 4 people and luggage and AC blasting, i still extract 20-21 kmpl tank to tank , as i drive with a light foot, preferring to cruise at 100.

If i do get the itch to upgrade ( not anytime soon), i will maybe move a segment up and look at the Elevate or Duster

Show this to our uninformed govt. You burn 2 litre petrol now for 1 litre diesel in the past and all the pollution that got created in the making of your new car is also making the environment benefit negative.

Govt lost environment goals and fulfilled only their treasury goals with this 10 year rule.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Car: BMW 530e Plug in Hybrid

Usage- City:75% & Motorway:25%

Odometer: 42000 kms

City usage is mostly electric as I get around 30-35km per charge out of 12kwh battery pack.
Motorways/National highway mileage varies between 15-17 kmpl which is excellent for a 250+bhp car.

On-board computer says an average of 15kmpl at 120kmph in 8th gear. This Phev is green as well as fast.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My 2013 Maruti Dzire diesel gave FE of 25kmpl as per the MID on the Mumbai-Nashik highway over the weekend! For the total round trip of 580 odd kms over 3 days which included drive in the city, averages about 22kmpl as per the tankful method.
