Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Sorry if I'm digressing a bit.

Can members suggest what's the best Mileage tracking app for iPhone? I've seen some screenshots in this thread (like fuelio) but wanted to check if someone has researched and used enough apps to figure out what's the best one out there.

Thanks!

I'm using Drivvo and it has been good , except adverts.
I 2 years back switched to iPhone so I was earlier using Fuelio on my android phone.
So have found both to be almost identical .
Give it a try.

The trick is all in the accelerator. No RPM, No speed. Fun fact, I even touch 130 sometimes on the flyovers. You have to just touch the accelerator.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

2011 Gypsy King - 10.25 kmpl in city. 11.5 mixed mode.
This is with IOCL regular petrol + System-G. FE drops to 9.25 if using BP/Nyara. Have not tried HP yet.

Calculation method: Top-up to Top-up. Adjusted for upsize tyres

Have not tried highway yet.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Tata Safari XZA+ Adventure
Bought - Aug 2023
City Mileage initial days - 8~9 kmpl
Highway ~ 16 kmpl easily as per trip meter

These are early days of running in and first service yet to be done. I was a bit disappointed to see an FE of 8~9 kmpl in city but then expect this to improve with time and servicing.

Done 2 return trips of Pune-Mum and one return trip of Pune-Lonavla. And this is where it impressed me with its FE numbers.

With 6 passengers and luggage on seat 7, finished Pune Mum return trip including Ghats and traffic, it returned an impressive 16.8 on cluster. Tank to tank may be bit less.

On a flat highway it blew me away with a 20+ kmpl FE over a stretch of 60kms from Lonavla to Pune.

Hoping to see better city numbers in coming days.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My recent trip
Manjeri-kozhikkode-thamarasseri-vythiri-manathavadi-kalpetta-thamarassei-mukkam-areekode-manjeri.
There was a lot of traffic because the Onam holiday was coming to an end.
My car is a Marazzo M8 diesel.

I'm adding the FE figures of few of the cars I have access to. These are not downhill drives or ones without AC. These were conducted at usable speeds though a bit slow and AC set sedately.

On the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Celerio zxi amt petrol the best I got was 31.4 kpl.

What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?-whatsapp-image-20230905-12.10.23-am.jpeg

On the 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis VL CVT Petrol I got 24.8 kpl. Similar AC setting and driving style.

Let's add EVs to the mix.
On the 2021 Tata Nexon EV Prime, I got 95Wh/km. That translates to 10.52 km/kWh. Converting that to petrol equivalent figure by considering petrol and electricity cost, It would be 162.9 kpl

There's a downward slope of about 500M while traveling from Bengaluru to Krishnagiri,so FE figures will always be high, that is a rare instance. The realistic FE that you can expect from your machine on a highway trip is about 14-18 kmpl, In a dense city traffic expect single digit figures.

I recently did a Bengaluru to Tiruvannamalai trip in my creta 1.4TGDi, it returned about 16 kmpl (MID - 17.7 kmpl), 4 adults, about 50kg luggage, AC at 23-24 C, seadatley driven.
Drive safe.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Maruti Suzuki Zen 2006:
  • City: 14kmpl
  • Highway: 19kmpl
I have rounded the figures to nearest integer. All of them are without AC.

What does 'auto cut' mean?
Do you mean to say that the car stalls due to low fuel?
Isn't it advisable not to run the car will such low levels of fuel? Won't that affect fuel pump operation and wear?

"Auto cut off" means that while refueling, the fuel dispenser sensor will cut off the fuel supply into the fuel tank of the car once it senses that the tank is full. It is calibrated to avoid overflow. Some of them top up fuel in the fuel tank even after the auto cut off for rounding off to the nearest amount/rupee (ease of making payment) or want to fill the tank to the brim (which ideally should not be done).

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Did a 320km Kochi-Idukki-Mavelikara-Kochi trip over the last 3-day weekend with friends in our week-old Grand Vitara Hybrid Alpha+.

The overall trip FuelEfficiency (FE) was 21kmpl, with the lowest 15kmpl while on Idukki ghat roads & the highest 27kmpl during the sedate Kochi-Thodupuzha drive. Not bad for a 1300kg car with another 400kg of humans & luggage.

All MID figures - plan to check FE by a *LFI-to-LFI fuel fillup.

*LFI - Low Fuel Indicator warning on dashboard.

PS : The last time I saw 20+kmpl FE was in our non-AC 1985 M800 & that too on the highways couple decades ago when roads used to be empty.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Scross 1.3 Bought in October 2018. 61K kms driven.

Mileage:
City:16-17 Daily commuting inside the dense city traffic
Highway:19-21
Full-time AC set to 24
Speeds: Enthusiastic driving . Hence the low mileage figures considering MJD standards.
