Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I just burst out laughing after looking at all the figures here. Nearly an hour to cover 8 km, easily one of the worst jams I've experienced. Turbo-petrols really turn into guzzlers in the city!

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Hi, I picked a used Honda city 2012 model couple of days back, very happy with the 1st honda, however I am getting very bad FE with AC On in bumper to bumper traffic, just wanted to know if this is normal ? I come from Maruti cars driving all my life and this was a shocker. If this is abnormal, what should I get it checked ?

I loaded fuel for 3k on the first day which was approx 30ltrs and it got over in 2 days and I had covered around 90km, fuel low light lit on.
Also I did oil change after I got the vehicle, I went for shell helix 0w30 fully synthetic. Oil and filter change along with coolant was done before I had started driving.

So the 3rd day I didn't use AC, I started driving sedately and I could see fuel not dropping down, trip meter was now showing 12kmpl compared to 6kmpl before. But the moment I put the AC on, fuel is sucked very fast and I don't hear the AC fan stopping at all, it keeps running continuously.

I wanted to know from honda owners if this is normal or should this be checked? My driving is not crossing above 3k rpm maybe few overtakes here and there which is normal. I felt I need to report here, if at all if this is abnormal what should I get inspected ?

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I have been getting around 16 to 17 kmpl on the highways in my ciaz. I have tried to consciously change my driving style with a light foot for past few weeks. Today, from hosur to salem got mileage of 22.5 on the MID 🙂 Maintained speeds of 100 to 105 where possible.

30 litres for 90km sounds very abnormal , try calculating the fuel mileage using the full tank to full tank method .
9-11 kmpl is what you should get in traffic conditions.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I've Polo 1.0 TSI, and I'd say the mileage is its biggest strength and weakness.
I rarely got double figures in the city traffic, barring occasional runs in the wee hours. The highway mileage is very good. I even got 20 kmpl when I drive for mileage. I tried it once and never driving economically. I get anywhere between 16 and 18 even with spirited runs. All this from the MID, I never did the tank to tank test.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I'm getting average mileage of 18 km/l (MID always shows +2 to +3 from the actual numbers)
Using an app to track tank full to tank full mileage and other expenses of my Honda WR-V Diesel with 1,03,000 kms on the ODO as of now. Here's a screenshot of the data for the kilometres mentioned above.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

With my 2016 Honda city MT, I get an average mileage of about 9 kmpl in the city, mostly in bumper to bumper traffic. On the highway, 16-17 is easily done if I drive with a light foot.

Is your engine check light glaring to say something or this is how it looks when you start the electricals?

It is the normal behaviour, has been like that from day 1. It goes off as soon as the engine is started.

Hey Deepak,

Good to know about your Camry Hybrid average in Bangalore city, at 18-19 kmpl and 20-22 kmpl on the highway. Just wanted to check what kind of average were you getting on similar city & highway routes on your non hybrid car before you got your Camry.

And if you can answer, what's the kilometers that your are able to cover in a typical city drive of 1 hour?

Hopefully this should help give some cues about the real world fuel efficiency gains by switching to Hybrid.

Thanks in advance.
