My Kizashi is giving some good average on CNG (yes, you read that right). Thanks to the winters here in Delhi, i think it'll only increase. These are the last 11 fill-ups summary. Average mileage since April'21 has been 21.19 km/kg. That comes to around Rs.2.5/km. I'm loving this CNG technology.

Took our 2021 Camry hybrid to Pune over last week. Finally a long trip for the car and it didn’t disappoint. Return from Pune showed 22.46 km/L with speeds varying between 90-110kmph. For a short burst went up to 120kmph and reduced again. Mind you car was packed to the brim - 4 adults and a toddler + a trunk FULL luggage.

Haven’t done a tankful to check the actual efficiency but even if it works out to 19-20 kmpl, I’m more than happy!

Other notable virtue is the quiet ride in the car, very very smooth with good sound insulation. Only thing is in the ghat section, one can feel that the car is big even in Sport mode (Irony much?).

Bombay City driving yields 14kmpl, tested using tankful method.

Took our Sept 2021 5th Gen Honda City ZX CVT to Mahabaleshwar (from Pune) last weekend. 4 adults, a kid and a full boot (and more so while returning with all the shopping bags).Overall FE was 14.5kmpl which I felt was decent for highway + ghat + weekend traffic + slow speeds in Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani + car load. Highway speeds between 90-110kmph.

My Nov-21 XUV 300 Petrol Manual gave a 16.2 Kmpl (Tank to Tank) on the first major highway trip - Baroda-Surat-Dahanu-Baroda. Cruising mostly in the 85-95 Km/h range with a/c. Did have some bursts of 100-120 though. Were fully loaded for half of the trip.

On a previous highway trip of 160 kms + City driving - got a FE of 15.5.

Good FE i'd say considering its a much heavier car than the Swift Petrol i owned earlier and was getting about the same FE with that as well.

On the Delhi - Jaipur trip, car was driven @ 80 to 110 kmph in normal mode without any use of paddle-shifters and without any care for fuel efficiency.

I believe highway fuel efficiency can be increased by driving with discipline @ 80 kmph.

Chanced upon this thread and decided to take a picture of the FE i get on our Ertiga petrol on a regular basis. The car is 7.5 years old now.

These figures are actual tank to tank as the MID is off by 1.5-ish kmpl and in no way, can i be considered a sedate driver.

Undivided highways riddled with potholes and numerous villages in between makes me maintain a sane speed of 80kmph max with proper gear shifts and no engine lugging results in FE ranging between 18-20.

4 lane and 6 lane highways with speed varying from 100-120kmph with me redlining the engine often results in an FE ranging between 15-18.

The FE drops drastically in hills especially with AC on ranging between 10-14 max.

I think these are pretty good figures for a 1.4L NA engine with AC almost always on.

IMO driving behavior decides the mileage. to highlight few
1) Wont race just because I see a open rad for 100 metres during city drive.
2) Speed limit of 45-50 within city limit
3) Only use the brakes than clutch. Clutch will be used only to access the gear and not for braking.
4) Will accelerate only from 3rd gear
5) Will Slow down consciously 25 metres before signal and speed breakers. with the fact that I drive 40 kms everyday up and down in the same route.
6) Will prefer a proper road, even if it is 2-3 kms extra.
7) Start early in the morning to skip the traffic congestion. Evening can't avoid the traffic. so it will be bumper to bumper drive.

Might sound like a sedate driver, but I feel this more of a leisure driving

Are you sure these are actual fuel efficiency figures? I mean, calculated by tank to tank method?

These have to be the highest numbers reported here. And that too in Chennai city, it's almost unbelievable.

Vento TDI 2013

My daily drive (one way) from cold start is around 35-40 kms with mix of city driving (7-8 kms) and stops + remaining highway.

Average Fuel Efficiency after around 20 mins of journey remains more or less stable:

1. With relaxed driving: hovers around 22-24 kmpl (one hour)
2. With fun driving: 20-21 kmpl (50 minutes )

Return journey in the evening is generally slow and FE is 18-20 kmpl (at least around 1 hour 20 minutes drive for same distance. No choice here.).

All these are as shown on MID. So actual efficiency will probably be off by about 2-4 kmpl.

Yes those figures are based on tank to tank method. TDI is one of the best engines. Stringbh figures infact looks better than mine. Mine being 3 cylinder engine, he manged to get better mileage with 4 cylinder.

31.5 km/l is a rare situation in the morning hours when. there will be very less traffic. Drive from Pallikaranai to thousand lights. Normally I will get 25-28 Km/L.

Evening hours the mileage will drop but still above 19-20 km/L most of the time.
