Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I've got a 2020 Tata Nexon XZ+(petrol) which was delivered to us on 2nd April,2021, and the tank had been filled to the maximum capacity(44L). The car had been standing idle for about 20 days(not at a stretch). The car had completed 46km when we got it and approximately 150km with us. The fuel gauge shows only three bars, which is lower than half the tank, and is showing a range of 139km. A quick calculation and we found that we are doing 6.36 km/l. May I please know whether this is a serious issue, or if it happens with new cars generally? All opinions are welcome.

The numbers look too low even for a new car, unless you run the car at idle for long periods. However, please don't calculate based on approx. fuel gauge levels (or even the MID readings). Instead, always calculate tankful to tankful. And to reduce error, take an average after doing 3-4 tankfuls.

That said, the FE is usually low for a new car and for the first 2-3000 kms. It keeps increasing thereafter and stabilizes after 5000 kms.

Edit: Update for my car.

Model: Seltos D MT
Odo: 24993 kms
Usage: 70% highway/30% city
AC: 100%

Avg. FE: 16.2 kmpl (logged over the past 15k kms)

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Renault Duster 2014 RXZ AWD:
I recently did 1000 kms on NH4 and I got 17.7kmpl mostly driving between 100-110. In-between I did hit 130 as well but rate. Mostly with AC on.
In the city, she is giving me almost 14 these days given the reasonably empty stretches. Last recorded pre-pandemic was 12.2 on the most congested Bangalore ORR stretches.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Honda City IDtec 2018 - Reaching 45k Km - 25.2 kmpl

This week's Hyderabad-Vijayawada-Hyderabad Trip ; So, 95% Highway - 5% City Drive.

Maintained healthy speeds around 90-100 kmph with 75% Cruise Control .

This is one of the best figures I got on my Snowolf. It should be atleast 24 kmpl in T2T method .

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

2014 Honda City iDTEC

Odometer- Close to 1,10,000 Kms

Fuel filled: 5.33L
Kms driven: 108 Kms

The Mileage I got is 20.4 Kmpl and the MID showed the similar figure as well, which is shocking to say!

And, the car is 100% driven in the city, and due to lockdown in our state, the mileage has been improved considerably!

With this, I'm expecting more increase in FE as I've been driving sedately these days, thanks to ever-increasing fuel prices!

And, our 2011 Innova gives just 8-9 Kmpl in similar conditions even if driven sedately!

I have a 2014 City Idtec too which is at 1,30,000km now. Consistently get anything between 18-21 kmpl in NCR region. It's amazing how this car produces such a good average. Even my diesel Tiago which is smaller and lighter gives only 15-16 kmpl. Only if engine noise was less in City this would have been a fabulous engine.

Recently it even surpassed my expectation. On a daily routine from my home to office in Delhi in good traffic it gave me this.
