Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Honda City Diesel figures as observed over the last 5 years and 80,000 kms
17.5 Kmpl average tank to tank in Bangalore City commute at 12 KM per hour average commute time.

Highway drives:
26 to 27 kmpl average if driven at 70 kmph at 1500 rpm most of the time. (Surprisingly Higher average than the Honda advertised mileage for City diesel.) It is practically not possible to drive at this low speed though unless the road is a two lane dividerless highway.

24 kmpl average if driven mostly around 100 kmph on 4 lane highways.

21.5 kmpl average if driven at 110 to 120 kmph on 6 lane highways.

Summary: mileage is outstanding on dividerless roads where speeds are lower and proportionally drops on multi lane roads as speeds get higher. Usually refill around the 500 km mark. The range is between 700 to 1000 km depending on driving speed/conditions with a tank capacity of 40 liters.

The surprising part is AC on or OFF or lightly loaded or fully loaded makes no difference to the fuel efficiency figures like in a petrol car. The high diesel torque right at low rpms makes it pull like a locomotive unmindful of AC or passenger load. Honda Turbo diesels are indeed incredibly efficient and effortless to drive.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

2016 Ford Aspire TDCi done 85k kms.

City 100% A.C (summer) = ~17 kmpl
City 20% A.C (winters) = ~ 20 kmpl

Highway 100% A.C. all the time = 22 kmpl

Highway mileage will vary from 20 to 25 kmpl depending upon the speed.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

One question, do we have any automatic SUV's which give us more than 20 kmpl on highways (without AC)?

On pure highway drives, most of the diesel auto compact SUVs will cross 20 km/l figure if you drive sedately maintaining 70-80 km/hr without AC.

Brezza, Duster, XUV300, Creta and Seltos are some cars that come to mind. Even if you drive them at normal highway speeds, these cars will return 17-18 km/l with a light foot.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Car: Hyundai Creta 1.6 Petol Manual (2017)
Current Odo: 189xx Kms
Method: Tankful to tankful till auto cut-off(using Fuelio App)
Useage: City:Highway - 60:40 (Highway means Kerala Highways, 90% Ekm -Tvm trips on dual carriageways)
A/C: 100% ACC at 24 deg cel
FE Min/Max: 10.5 Kmpl/16 Kmpl. Average FE is around 12.5 Kmpl as per app. Minimum FE was observed when the car was new and was mostly used in city and the maximum FE (latest) is during this lock down period for a mix of city and highway runs (I work in essential services, have to attend offices daily, daily commute varies from 20- 60 kms per day). However I am skeptical about the high FE since post tankful refill, one bar dropped far too fast and I look forward for the next refill to be sure.
Fuel: Regular Petrol and Speed 97 once every 10th refill. I always try and use BP COCO pumps and in this 2.5 years of ownership I have filled her from other pumps less than 5 times from other pumps.
Tyre Pressure: 34 psi

My driving style is mostly sedate, I try to maintain speeds between 70-80 kmph while cruising and have never exceeded 110 kmph.
