Hi Raj,

The FE is amazing by any standards, but under controlled conditions .

I did a FE calculation using a novel method.

I have retained all the Fuel receipts since day 1 & maintain a log of each filling (Kms. on the clock, fuel filled, dates etc.) using HVK's Maintenence Log Template.

I did the calculation on the 6th Jan '09.

Total Km Run: 2447
Km on clock on delivery: 75
Total Fuel Filled: 206.23 lts
Average: (2447-25)/206.23 = 11.50 KMPL

All the driving has been on the city except for a 250 Km trip to Kashid & back from Kharghar.

unfortunately, i was caught up in mumbai's thick traffic snarls. reached home, the next day filled up the tank again. did some quick calculations and the result was 16.36 kmpl...
but i would never want to try this again, it took me 4 hours to reach mumbai!

Accent 1.3 CRDi - done slightly over 90,000 kms and gives 17 kmpl during winter usually without ac but with heater.
during summer with ac borders around 16 kmpl
highway gives a bit more than 21kmpl during summer and now during winter with heater around 19 kmpl
On the whole pretty good don't you think?

Toyota Corolla FE update

Made a 240 km round trip yesterday to my native place.Had tanked up petrol till auto cut-off.After the trip tanked up at the same station and the same dispenser. It took in 14 litres. That means an FE of ~17kmpl with four people on board and ac on for 70-80% of the time. And speeds between 90-100.Also touched 140 once .And this is prior to the 1st service.Car has done 6600km.
I am in love with the VVTi

17 Kmpl from a 1.8L engine is awesome. Is this the Altis or the older Corolla ?

The Beast returned 11.5 kmpl on tank-up yesterday; was pleasantly surprised. Heater & demisting has been used extensively of late on account of NCR winter & fog (though no cooling as such). Have not been redlining except on rare occasion so I guess its paid offcheers:

Mine is the corolla (hate to call it older , since it was bought only in April last year) and not the corolla altis.
Yeah it is awesome, but had I decided to be frugal (keeping in 80's with no ac since it was pleasant outside, and maintaining 31 or 32 psi) I think it could have returned even more FE.

I recently drove from Indore to Goa and Back. A round trip of 3500 kms.

On the Aveo 1.4, I got:-

14.5kmpl on highway (200 kms of Madhya Pradesh is really bad, plus it took me 2.5 hrs to get out from Pune ie Bhosari to Swargate). 2 adults, full luggage, A/c on 90% and lots of spirited driving.

Last week, traffic in Mumbai was comparatively less coz of the truck strike.

Got an amazing mileage of approx 19 kmpl on my zen cheers:

Mostly drove at 60-65 km/hr without A/C.

11.5 kmpl is abosoutely fine for a 2 ton, non-aerodynamic SUV!

Those are awesome figures but when do you plan to get first service. It has been almost 8-9 months and 6600 Kms? Isn't the first service done at 1000Kms.

Yes the first service is indeed done at 1000kms,but its not an actual service, they just check the car.Its actually called an inspection. The first actual service is at 10,000 kms mark, where the oil change and other things are done.

Hi!

My Car’s FE calculation is based on a full tank to next refill method for my last 2 refills.

My Indica V2 gives me:-

1) 430kms in city with AC for 31 lts which is 14KMPL.
2) 560kms on Highway and city with AC on & off for 30 lts, which comes to 18KMPL.
