beats me their plants would have to be surely shut down. or maybe they are operating just one shift at 50% capacity???

i talked to the fiat dealer when i went to leave the GTX for servicing last week. They still offer only 6k discount and seem very very upbeat. I asked them if they had any unsold 1.6 GTX they said yup but would cost you 5.0L!!!

Hyundai Motor Ind 7,047 cars
FIAT INDIA sold 127 cars

Mind you, this is the compact class I am refering to

U r wrong..becos FIAT India has only Palio & that is in premium hatchback segment.

So I would like to know how many GETZ, SAIL were sold in that period & then take that figure to compare with that of FIAT..gotcha?

the above figures given by STRATOS is utterly misleading..

Hasopi,

You are wrong too, cos Fiat also has one more product - The Petra.

How about comparing Petra sales to the other 5 lac sedans? Without even bothering to look, I can tell you that it will be 2 figures versus 4 for most.

Also, I believe the Getz as a premium hatch IS selling 1500+ cars a month.

A Dream for HYUNDAI

GETZ selling 1500 cars..that was in the first month of launch..then..I hardly see any GETZ on road in Bangalore..

Now..HYUNDAI is tight lipped about sales on GETZ!!.

wow harrie they still have the GTX...must be really old (2002 models)...and for all the hype about the getz dont really see too many of the around (at least in bangalore)...1500 cars a month is good or bad according to hundai's forecast.

Hyundai Getz sales:

February : ~1100 (Pre-budget low sales)
March : 1601 (Post-budget high sales)

Actual sales should be around 1200-1400. Petra sales are neither increasing nor decreasing over last few months. (Not much to decrease any way).

Just as info......I have started finding more Petra's in bangalore now.The numbers might be less but i feel its slowly growing. For people like me, even if i have 8 lac to spare, i would go for a Petra and put the remaining money in a bank.. :-) ...I know there can be better cars bought with this kind of money but i find Petra to be an overall a good buy.

Hey where are these GETZ?

Do guys buy & park it only? dont see them much in roads as per the above said sales figure.

Btb from where did u get this sales figure? Is it the target sales figure Mr Subbu was telling when they launched?

@hasopi and Sush, I have nothing against Fiat or Petra, but numbers for Getz are published on Hyundai's website. As far as Petra is concerned, I too have noticed more Petras in Pune than previously (May be people are fed up of waiting for Fiat to close).

FYI : Petra sales in Jan 05 are 145. (Source : Murad Ali Baig on cybersteering).

P.S.: Just FYI again, I own a Fiat Petra.

I think that is because the Getz is an easy car to miss. IMHO it does not have any standoutish features. (P.S. I am not hating on Hyundai) Actually we tend to notice cars that are a bit uncommon. But yeah the Getz's should be selling in 1000+ numbers every month.

@RX135 : Fed up waiting for Fiat to close? That is a new one.

Besides, I did not know that car sales are a good indicator of how good a car is.

Who said that is good indicator of how good is the car? I wouldn't have bought Petra if sales was the criteria

I was talking with Ashwmegh salesperson (Fiat dealer), when he told me about a new customer. He bought Petra in April despite everyone telling him not to buy a Fiat. His argument was straightforward. He said, he had been hearing rumours of Fiat closing right from 2002. It is 2005 and Fiat is still there and now, he is fed up with that closure talk. So, he went ahead and bought himself a black Petra.

I know dude. I was just injecting some sarcasm. Not directed against you.

Regarding the closing down of Fiat, that is still a very innovative reason IMHO. But yes, I do feel bad that their sales suffer. On the upside Fiat cars are more unique. Welll ....
