Which car do you drive?

Then please don't mind me asking (just trying to understand), why V-power and/or high octane fuel?

I think I know why. My oldie 2003 Activa works best with VPower. Its not just the new gen/race engines which love that bang. Will try BP high octane next

Another outlet for West Bengaluru folks. New Shell pump opening on Magadi main road. This is adjacent to the BPCL outlet at tollgate junction just before the Toyota /Mahindra /RE service station buildings.

V Power and Speed are not high octane. I don't use Speed 97. I just said V Power now costs as much as 97 Octane fuel.

I like V Power smoothness and pick up. I have been using it for over ten years. Engine and spark plugs remain very clean. My mechanic wanted to decarb the bike silencer at 125k KM on the Odo and I said no need. But he insisted so I got curios and told him to go ahead. When he cut open the silencer there was absolutely nothing to clean and he sheepishly closed it back.

Earlier V Power used to cost a few rupees more than Speed. The gap kept widening and now has become 12 rupees per litre. I hope I will get more or less similar results with Speed. Right now I find the smoothness factor is somewhat less.

Edit: Actually more than the price difference, I am worried their stocks are not moving fast nowadays due to this and I may be getting old stock.

Re: Shell in India (fuel, lubes, outlets)

New Shell bunk coming up on ORR near the Reliance bunk in Gorguntepalya. This is between the last flyover on ORR and Gorguntepalya signal. So you will reach this first before the Reliance bunk.

Shell is kind of exploding it's outlet list.

Hi people.

So now Shell is Rs 5.50 more in Chennai - Rs 95 a liter for petrol. Do you guys think it’s worth that?

Nope. There is nothing special with shell fuel. All shell fuel is supplied by one of the state oil companies. Shell adds some additives.

Re: Shell in India (fuel, lubes, outlets)

That’s correct. But are the additives worth the extra?

Shell only adds additives to its premium fuel. The regular fuel is the same.

Re: Shell in India (fuel, lubes, outlets)

Shell has started to offer rewards app called Shell Go+. Everytime you fill petrol they scan and points get added. This is not offered across all outlets though.
Does anyone know how many points are accrued per litre of fueling?
The rewards catalogue seems to contain items from its convenience stores - say 500 points for Britannia Jim Jam, 500 for Kitkat.

Which means each point equals roughly about 5 paise! An insult in my book. Just an eyewash.

Figured out. I think its 5 points on every litre of fuel. There's 100 points for joining the app.

Yes - seems the way. They have a 100INR voucher for 2000 points which works out of 5 paise.
So 1 litre which is nearly 100 INR gets me 5 points which is nearly 25p. So a 0.25% cashback

I think this is their attempt to get footfall to their convenience store - since you would eventually want to redeem something and will eventually buy something more.
Except once, i have never bought once from their convenience store in last 4 years. Will see if i end up doing it or not.
