I'd say that the Indica V2-> Vista change is a lot more sudden and big compared to the incremental changes between the 800, alto, zen, and A star.

I think differently and again both are entitled to our own opinion.

^It is not known if there will be an Quadrajet Ignis, yet.

BTW, isn't the platform independent of the body? I mean Tata can as well launch a new Car looking completely different but still on the Vista platform, just like what Maruti did with Ritz and Swift?

@anmol2k4 and greenhorn - lets not loose our cool or else the mods will ban us. There is no issue on whether somebody thinks Indica Vista should be named differently or not. Different people will have different opinions, but the thing that I found unaceptable was when I mentioned about it, it drew such flak from fellow bhpians saying that we all Indians are like that, we tend to disgrace our own products blah blah. This is what I had mentioned was uncalled for. Anyway, we have gone enough off topic. Let this us put an end to this name change controversy.

Moreover, there is another thread solely for naming issues. Perhaps they can continue their discussion there. This thread is about the new Ignis variant.

Somebody had mentioned that the Ignis variant is solely for export markets. Is that ture?

Great option for those looking at a competent Indica petrol, though there aren't going to be too many of them. The 1.4 is neither too quick nor really fuel efficient. At best, it will serve a niche segment. But hey, what's the cost to Tata? Zero. The engine was readily available from its Italian partner anyways.

Tata Indica = Diesel. Period.

The price difference (in Petrol) from 1.2 Aura to 1.4 Ignis with ABS & Airbag will be huge due to higher tax regime. ( It'll be more than a lakh costlier)

I guess Price difference between Aura QJD to Ignis QJD will be around 80~90 K

Tata Indica Vista Aura Saffire Ignis..Vangipurappu Venkat Sai Laxman..Oh yeah !The only difference is Indica Vista is just not very very special. I would concur with the views that Tata missed a trick by calling it Indica again. Indica brings taxi image to most people's mind and is not the first choice for family buyers(entirely my opinions, so feel free to differ). Why couldn't they just call it Indica Vista? A li'l bit of visual differentiation from the older model during design would also have helped. I think GTO summed it up beautifully with the title of his thread for the Indica Vista.

Those who feel that the Vista & the older Indica look the same need an urgent visit to the opthalmologist. I have seen both cars parked side by side & one can easily make out the difference. Even Autocar India had mentioned in their report 'that the only thing similar between the 2 might be some Nuts & Bolts.' Hope the case is rested now at least or we still continue to argue?

No one in this thread said that Vista and older Indica look same, but I did say that Vista == Indica and happens to be its evolutionary successor, and both cars share the DNA.

* Tata Motors designed Vista in similar way VW designed the new beetle. These successors to the super successful cars may not be completely same but happen to share a lot of design characteristics.

For example Vista and Indica happen to share the eggshell design and the tail lamps. Though the newer Vista have bigger and better head lamps.

The reason the two cars share such characteristics is because Tata wanted a successor to supper successful Indica which once bailed out once ailing group.

When companies have such a successful product, they don't normally throw out the design, DNA and nomenclature to appease to a very small minority who gets turned off but a very common design and name of a very successful product.

* If there is an image problem, then why shouldn't Tata Motors try to fix it ? And what better product to that than Vista ? It takes time to fix the Image, but it would be worthwhile as Indica is very important to Tata Motors.

And yes I have seen Indica and Vista side by side, and I believe both cars share lot of characteristics.

And there happen to be a thread on this topic that you may like to read :-

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...a-sighhhh.html

^ But unlike people on that thread, I don't think its design similarity to older Indica is a bad thing.

I may or may not need an *ophthalmologist, but you certainly need a flame specialist.

Anmol, lets keep the discussion to the new car being discussed rather than flaming anyone. Just like you mentioned everyone is entitled to an opinion and my friend opinions are like onions, the more you keep them around you the more they smell. so let go off it and lets get back to the discussion on the car in question
