[S2!!!]

For some reason the exterior looks very similar to the out going U-va. The interior seems to be fairly decent but power window switches in front of the gear lever are not in the most comfortable place they should be, also the pull type door locks look quite out dated. The interiors look fairly decent with the brown theme inside and I love the Cruze type steering wheel. This car looks to be in competing with the I10, Figo and Vista and not the I20, Polo and Swift likes.

I must say that I expected the worst after learning that this is a made-for-China car built on a modified old generation Opel Corsa platform, but the scoop pictures posted by members makes me feel it isn't so bad after all. It's difficult to make out from the pictures but it looks like the doors, windshield and roof do have rubber beadings in place (What on Earth was Toyota thinking when they left out these crucial bits on the Etios/Liva?) The meters have been placed in their natural position and not on the centre control, thankfully. The front seats seem supportive and the interior quality seems acceptable enough from the pictures. I hope they have placed the wiper control stalk on the left side of the steering column and the light controls on the right.

One cheap thing is the placement of the power window switches ahead of the gear lever, in a difficult-to-access position. The integrated music system looks very basic too (I don't think it has bluetooth or USB connectivity). The lift-type door handles and the little vertical lock levers scream previous generation. I don't know if Chevy have provided an ECU-controlled engine immobiliser - I sincerely hope they haven't skimped on this.

The cars have the potential to sell in respectable numbers if the diesels are priced sensibly - a Figo-like positioning for the hatch with the sedan positioned just above the Indigo CS. Anything more would be asking too much for a car built on an old platform when it has to battle it out in fiercely competitive segments.

Well First thing is that it is not made up of Opel Corsa Platform. It is altogether a new platform called S2 which is derived from new Aveo/Sonic Platform ..they have referred it by the name of S2 many a times. Sample this.

Saw these test mules in Bangalore (old Airport Road) this morning. Had these not been masked, I doubt these would have caught anyone attention at all. The masking is done such that a front view is obvious that it is a chevy. further, haven't these models been on public display at the auto expo? pointless, me thinks.

saw two test cars on my trip to my hometown and while i was returning to bangalore on sunday ,exactly near narsapur NH 4.the badges were covered i think these are chevy s new cars

I'm sorry, but that link contains nothing to show that this Chevrolet Sail is built on a derivative of the new Aveo/Sonic platform (Gamma II). It does not even mention that the S2 is a vehicle platform as such. Do you have any other link to show that it is based on the new Sonic platform or it's derivative?

I think this is the best time for chevrolet to launch these vehicles as they can capitalise on the poor state of maruti nowadays. The hatchback can easily attract potential maruti buyers (especially diesel) which wont be able to get their cars on time due to all the mess at maruti's manesar plant whil the sedan (if priced well) can woo potential dZire or sx4 customers (based on the price on which it is launched.

This car was headed towards Kadugodi bridge. Looks like it had a run on the old madras road freeway and was on its way back to GM R&D in ITPL.

Not a design I like. There might be others who do.
