Fiat Punto

Skoda Fabia
Maruti SX4

These are the only cars you will find in your budget with ABS/Airbags. Remember that 4-5 years back, very few small cars were offered with these options and even fewer people bought them. For example the Swift diesel till 2012 didn't have them even as an option.

I dont think you can find a well maintained car for such a price. If for 3L you want a car with safety features, it should be a hatchback if you are looking for a reliable car to use. If you look at C segment and upwards it will surely require considerable maintenance.

Buy A Volkswagen Polo - 2012-13 tdi within your range (you may have to stretch 25-40k depending upon situation/condition of vehicel) but its pretty likely you may find a good one within / around 3Lakhs.

Best of Luck!

Amazing little car, really well built, lookd nice, and has the basic safety features - ABS / Airbags

Hi Guys,

I was planning to get a Honda Civic and convert it to CNG for my daily use which is 70 kms approx. However after going through the Honda Civic maintenance thread I am not sure if I need a car which has quite a few known issues I.e suspension, PS Pump & Rack. The reason I decided on civic was that it will be an upgrade from my fiesta and I could get an automatic. The budget decided was approximately 3 lacs for a 2008 model car in Delhi. Now I have added two more choices to the list.

Fiat Linea Diesel

Pros :-
Same segment car if not above.
I love the build quality of European and I hate Japs for that.
I could get a Diesel and wouldn't be required to fill up CNG every 2nd day.
National Engine

Cons :-

Wouldn't be automatic
Fiat ASS
I am not sure what kind of maintenance the car has.
Parts availability.
Is it recommended to buy a car which is driven 60k kms approx.

Fiat Punto :-

Build quality
Diesel
National engine
I can fit in a tuning box for that extra power.
Checked OLX and 2010 models are available for approx 2 lacs.
I can save 1 lac and pimp up my Gypsy.

Cons :-

Will be a downgrade. I have always been against a Hatch for me.
Will not be automatic.

If I buy it I will sell it in an year for sure and will go for 7 speed automatic altis or Skoda Laura so what kind of depreciation I am looking at?

After having 2 lemon Esteems I want a daily drive which is pocket friendly, gives me piece of mind, and is low on maintenance. Suggestions are welcome folks

You can look for the Corolla AT, it is the perfect candidate for CNG conversion, easy on the pocket, better ground clearance as compared to Civic.
Since it is a Toyota, chances are that depreciation will be relatively less.

Some cons which I can think of are bland interiors and simple exterior looks as compared to the Civic.

All the best for your purchase 👍

Thanks for the suggestion, however I hate corolla for its looks. That's the reason it's not on the list. I am okay with an altis however even if I extend my budget I would get a 4 speet AT which I am not very happy about.

How about the previous generation Honda city?
You will have to increase the budget for it though but it will be worth it as you will get a relatively newer car and it has paddle shifters too.

At the cost of further confusing you, may I suggest you the Honda Accord, it is another brilliant vehicle which is clearly a segment above the other cars you have considered.

Negative points will be : extremely low GC and fuel efficiency.

Hey, I saw your profile, you own a Cedia. I am finalising on the deal for a second hand Cedia sport 2010, 50k on the odo. I wanted to ask, how's the spare parts scene there? Are they rarely available or not at all or they are available but take a few days for it. Pls, help me out. I live in Mumbai and I wanna know what's the scene in other states as well

I have kept Honda City as my last option as we already have one in extended family and I don't feel comfortable driving it. The GC is too low for my kind of driving style. No accord for me. I am looking for a daily drive & Accord FE will not help at the same time parts are really expensive and I don't want such car at this stage of life. If I have to buy a car from such segment I would look for less than 3 years old examples.

re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread. (Online tool : Page 1)

Hi Guys,
Logging back to team-bhp after years as I am planning to change my car. Old memories and all that!

I am looking for sedan in the class of Fiesta(post 2011), Verna(post 2011), City, Cedia in Bangalore. My range is 3.5L-5L depending on the fuel-type and 2-4yrs old.

Any suggestions? Some dealer is selling Ford Fiesta, Oct'11, top-model, diesel, 50K on odo. But he's asking for 5.25L which I believe is on the higher side. And also it's from a dealer- I find them very hard to believe about car's condition.

Please help me with suggestions/insights.
Thanks.

Guys, what would be the valuation (I'm the buyer) for a Civic.

Details:
Mid 2011 V MT model
22000 kms clocked, single owner, singly handedly driven as well.
Overall condition of the car is very good. Driven from point A to point B mostly.

Aston it should be around 6.5 lakhs . The service records should validate the genuine kms which should match with the details mentioned. If they are matching then all OK. Hope you are in direct touch with the individual owner.
