re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread. (Online tool : Page 1)

My colleague bought a Hyundai Getz yesterday from an individual selling it.

Details are:
City: Namma Bengaluru
Year of manufacture: 2004
Mileage: 39800kms
No. of owners: 3 (All colleagues of the man selling it)
Condition: Good. Engine is very smooth running mill. Has a scratch on the passenger side door and a dent from a 2W hit on the rear bumper. A small dent on the bonnet. Front right shocks make a small weird noise when going over a pothole/ speed breaker. Attributed to the shock absorber. Adjusting mechanism of the rear view mirror on the passenger side gone kaput.
Price: 100000INR which I think is literally a steal considering a 70-80k odo reading of a similar vehicle going for a minimum of 1.8L.

By the way what is the asking price for this car? Is it 75ps variant or D90?
Test drive done. But didn't check that. . Its a 75ps one. Checked engine bay and didn't find anything new or shiny or welded or dented or painted and so I ascertained that it has not met with an accident. The quote is for 4 lacs. Mod: sorry if it is getting posted twice. Got a call while pressing submit the first time

Don't just believe your eyes. Hire an expert mechanic to get the car assessed completely (in and out). Most importantly get the full service history of the car from the authorized workshop where it was being serviced. This is a must before you make the final decision.

I have recently burnt my fingers very badly. Purchased a pre-worshipped Innova from a friend's friend and only realized now that the car had met with a big accident (repairs to the tune of Rs 5.69 lacs).

So be careful and take all possible precautions.

I don't want to sound like a 'told you so' nanny, but no one should buy a used car without getting a full pre-purchase inspection done at the dealer, checking its service / repair history and verifying the claims history with the insurance company.

It's all part of our used car advice article (ARTICLE: How to buy a *USED* Car in India).

What should be right price for Getz Prime GVS 1.1, June 2009 Model? It has done almost 28K KM till now. I am the second owner.

The car is well maintained, clean (minor scratches, no dents per say) and with complete service history with a healthy mileage of ~13-14 (tankful to tankful).

Issue:

1. This car is Maharashtra Registered and I am in Gurgaon.
2. The car is in name of first owner. I had to move to Gurgaon on a very short notice and I could not get it transferred at that time. But, I have all original documents. I know this does not sound good for a BHP-ian but I was completely ignorant (to put it mildly) at that time.
Any advice experts?

I'll be going back to Pune sometime but it is at least an year away.

I'll have to sell it as we already have another car.

atnyia - pls refer what a i10 ( old model ) goes for in your market of similar vintage. I would believe the Getz Prime would at best sell at a similar or slightly lower price

What's the max I can expect from Maruti WagonR LXi 2007 model - 52000 kms on odo - new tyres/battery. No mechanical defect. Run as good as it was on day one. Excellent outer paint and gloss - black color. Petrol only.

^^

Used car price in Delhi is low compared to other cities. So for a base variant, 8 year old Wagon R correct price I think is 1.5L + 20K spent on tires and battery.
Anything above will be based on vehicle condition (may be another 10K if it is excellent).

I was looking around for a Wagon R around the same age, the pricing is all over the place. You have them from 70,000 to 2,50,000

Your vehicle would be the Type II Wagon-R, and distinguishable by a chrome strip running across the grill

The late 2006-2010 Wagon-R had the same chassis but got a face-lift at the front and rear along-with non-split rear seats. These go for 1,80,000 to 2,50,000 in Bangalore

Car: Maruthi Suzuki Baleno
Model: 2001
ODO: 81250 kms

How much can I pay for it? I have inspected the car and it looks awesome. Good engine, new tyres, new battery.

Personally, I wouldn't pay more than 1.25L though I doubt you'll get a lower (realistic) quote. It's also due for a life tax renewal in a short span, so please consider that too.

Any idea how much would I have to shell out to renew the fitness at the RTO? Will I be asked to pay tax again for those 4 or 5 year's renewal?
