I'm inclined towards 2nd option because of sunroof - my child feels claustrophobic in dark interiors, i guess it will help with that(?) - but is the mileage of 79000 km okay for a petrol Audi or do they become unreliable post that?

Reliability is my primary concern.

Thanks
As long as timely maintenance has been carried out 79k kms is not an issue. Test drive the shortlisted cars back to back to feel the difference. I don't know the parts availability and service scenario in your country but since it's a VW/Audi expect some expenses here and there.

Any clarity and suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Altis is a no nonsense car, the budget mentioned is also accurate for the city and altis. Since both are CVTs try pushing them to check if the rubber band effect is something you can live with. Only major expenses would be suspension related in the Toyota. Also consider Suzuki ciaz AT as it came with a 4 speed Torque Converter and also has 4 star rating. Plus you can get 2018 models at your budget. Only downside being the power.

Is 7.25 a fair price for August 2017, Honda City V CVT? It is run 28k and is well maintained. It is Pune registered however being used in Bangalore currently & will have to be brought back to Pune(Additional expenses, over and above 7.25).

Thanks,
A

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

2012 Toyota Fortuner, Registered in Bangalore. What's a fair price for it?
While checking a Lok Sabha candidate's affidavit before today's polling, I saw that he has claimed that his car is worth ₹3.0 lakhs only.
I have half a mind to take a cheque for ₹3.2 lakhs to his house and make an offer

2012 means a 12 years old car. a politicians 12 yr old car is not worth a single rupee forget 3 lacs. They have always been used rough by multiple drivers.

Other than that, we sold our 10 yr. old 2010 Fortuner 4x4 in Delhi NCR in 2020 for about 3.5 lacs.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Hello all,

I have 2 cars on hand, of which, I would like to sell one of them but have no idea what kind of price I should expect.

1) Hyundai Elantra petrol automatic (top trim, of that time), 2014 35,000km odometer reading, in generally good condition (to me at least). It has a few scratches. 1 very small dent on rear boot from a motorcycles handle who rear ended me at slow speed. The main problem is, this car got damaged during flooding in Gurgaon and the engine had to be flushed. Hyundai was able to repair everything very well and the engine and the rest of the car functions perfectly normal now however the ventilated seats no longer work. Because of the water damage, I have no idea how to price this car.

2) Jeep compass limited, petrol (also top trim), 2018. 23,000 odometer reading. This car has been maintained very well and has had 0 accidents or any incident of any kind. This car has 1 small scratch on the front bumper and a very small dent on the right rear door (I have no idea how it got there). We recently got it evaluated by BMW who offered 9 lakhs and Cars 24 who offered 7.75 lakhs. I felt those numbers were too low for a car with relatively low running and which doesn't have any issues, current or past.

Any help on what kind of price to sell for, to either a dealer or an individual, would be greatly appreciated. I am in NCR.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Hello Bhpians, Got the below quotations for my vehicles

Hyundai Grand i10 Asta Manual Petrol - 2017 December. 48k km (1st owner)
+ves: Excellent condition. Only serviced in authorized service centers. New tires and clutch. The battery was replaced last year.
-ves: Minor scratches and dents. The AC efficiency is reduced, working with service center guys to fix this.
Spinny - 4.0 L
Cars24 - 3.9 L

Honda Jazz V CVT Automatic Petrol - 2016 July. 49K km (2nd Owner)
+ves: Good condition. Only serviced in authorized service centers. Almost new Bridgestone tires.
-ves: minor scratches and dents. The only significant niggle is reverse camera stopped working recently.
Spinny - 4.4 L
Cars24 - 4.5 L

Are these fair qoutes? I see similarly old, run, and spec'ed vehicles are 1.5L to 2L more on these platforms than what is offered to me. Do these platforms keep such large margins? I am expecting 5.2Lacks for each of the vehicles (Fyi, I bought Honda Jazz for 6L last year with 46k as ODO from cars24). Any suggestion to get a fair price for my vehicles?

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

I am looking to sell my May 2015 registered Alto K10 VXi AMT that has run 27800km (single owner) with fairly new Continental CC6 tyres, brand new battery and comprehensive insurance paid till April 2025. What kind of price can I expect in Mumbai? The classifieds section seems to be down so I am not able to post it for sale on TBHP yet.

I can give you a reference to probably help you. I sold my 2015 Scorpio S10 2WD (diesel) red colour for 7.4 Lakhs. My car had a reading of almost 51k on the odometer. It was in a very good condition but there were scratches on front & rear bumper. Hope this helps!!

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Hi, I am looking to get a 2017-18 Honda City VX/ZX CVT in Delhi NCR.

I have shortlisted a City VX CVT 2018, which is owned in a friends family. Single owner, 58000kms done and maintained with Honda till date. Final asking price is 8L.

I had seen multiple city's before with dealers but not having the courage to pull the plug with a dealer owned vehicle. No idea what might come up in future and some of the cars look exceptionally clean for their age. And the deal looks like its too good to be true.

Should I go ahead with the city owned in the friends family at 8L. They wont come down on the price.

Lastly, how is the AC performance with the 4th gen city in peak Delhi summers ?

Price is definitely on the higher side. 7 to 7.5 lakh would've been fair depending on immediate expenses required, such as insurance, service, battery, tyres etc. If you're looking at 30-40k worth of expenses even after spending 8 lakhs, it's better to look for other options. You'll get a newer or sparingly used example for that price.

However, if the car is in absolute top condition, with no major expenses, you may consider it. It's not everyday that you come across used cars, especially your preferred model, from trusted sources. The premium paid won't matter if the car serves you well for the next 5-7 years.

For your AC related query, it's better to ask from actual users in the 4th gen official review thread.

Hi, yes even I believe the price is slightly on the higher side. But as it’s an extremely trusted source in the family, I have made up my mind to go ahead with the same. Also the car is extremely well maintained with not even any touch ups. I feel I might be paying around 50k more than the market value but at the end, i feel I won’t have to doubt my decision. Rest I am doing all the due diligence while buying a used car. Hope this works out.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

I found an interesting listing of: MK6 VW Jetta | 2011 | 75k odo | 2.0 TDI + DSG
Asking price is 6 lakh. The car is in very good condition (from the photos).

I want to personally check the car and bring down the price.

Any suggestions for the price to look for considering the risks of owning a CKD VW?

I use a gen4 city in Delhi. The AC is very good especially in comparison to VW and Skoda But 50+ degree heat in Delhi nowadays does pose extreme challenge for the AC.
