IMHO you should get the wheel caps removed before paint work.
I had changed to cloth upholstery long back and would be putting back the same. The wheel caps are also removed now. Thanks for the advise.

My car painting is complete. I have painted the Superior White itself as the painter informed that if I have to paint pearl white, the entire old paint would have to be scraped off and then new coat of Pearl white base and final finish would have to be done. This would be extremely expensive and need 2 more weeks. So I decided against it and went for the stock colour itself. Attaching some images after the painting job for you all.

Very good paint work done. But it seems many items were not masked or removed while the car was being prepared for paint such as the horn, ash tray, speedo console.
Did you got the battery shifted to right side.If so any specific reason for doing this.

Get the wheels painted fully. I mean remove the tyres and paint the whole wheel.

NO. All S1s' have Nissan gear box on Column shift and floor gear.

S1 engine has more power-48bhp. Its an AVL designed engine. The distributor specification is bit different. Camshaft design is different. Solex Carburretor is different and tuning it is difficult. Cable operated accelerator. And S1 has different type cooling system.

Yes thats correct. Column shift S1's are easy to find. The floor shift ones are little difficult(atleast in bangalore). The gearbox on both models are of Nissan, the exact same one found in 118 NE

Yes, the gearbox and differential are from the Premier 118 NE.
Unlike plain vanilla Padminis, the Padmini S1 also has synchromesh on 1st gear. You can shift down from 2nd gear to 1st gear in a moving car.
