@ Experienced track day'ers:

Can we have a post on the minimum requirements, do's/don't at the track venue
  • What papers/documents should one carry? In original or photocopy?
  • Mandatory safety equipments in car etc. Can a vehicle without seat belts be allowed? (My Gypsy doesn't have ANY seat belts)
  • Food? Fuel etc..??
  • Cost Sharing: What would be the cost /person or /vehicle that people should be aware of.
  • Any other thing that you would like to mention.
Frankly speaking, I am clueless on what to expect and seeing the number of first timer (including me) expressing their interest, it would be good.

Carry all docs in original. The track chaps don't care but you are doing an ~800km drive. You *must* have a car with seat belts to keep you pinned down into the seat.

If you are driving quick, make sure you have a light lunch. The G-Forces will churn things inside your stomach otherwise. There's an okay food place right opposite the track where you may head to afterwards.

It costs 1k/car to get in. Plus the cost of fuel etc. Be prepared for ridiculously low FE. My car drank over 20 liters for a distance just over 80km. Also make sure your tyres are in good condition and all fluids are topped up. Be prepared for uneven tyre wear - especially the left front. Driving flat out is quite straining for the car and even small problems will show up.

Hope this helps. Don't worry too much. Driving on track is super fun . If my mom wasn't around that weekend, I'd have definitely joined.

1. The track people don't care about car documents. You can drive a stolen car for all they care.

2. Seat belts & helmets are a must. No getting on to track without these.

3. Each car can have only driver and one passenger. Both need seat belts & helmets. No passengers allowed on the rear seats.

4. Cost will be 1 - 1.5k per driver (and not per car) for the entire session from 1:30 - 6:30. Will get exact amount by today evening. This amount needs to be paid up directly to the MMSC folks before getting on to the track.

5. The first timers will be shown the lines and will be given tips on what to do and what no to do on the track itself by the slightly more experienced folks.

6. Ensure your vehicle has good brakes & a good clutch along with decent tyres. These are the things that take the most beating on the track.

7. Also before getting on to the track you will have to ensure that there are no loose items that can move around inside the car while on the track. I recommend that you carry only the stuff that you absolutely need in your car especially people going all the way from Bangalore.

Confirmed list as of now
From Bangalore
1. vikram_d - Swift
2. reddream - ?
3. Khan_Sultan: Gypsy or Palio 1.6 S10
4. brraj: Elantra crdi (Spectator)
5. Binz-?
6. Rajiv + Seirra (binz's friends)-Swift
7. Siddartha - Skoda RS?
8. Team Race Dynamics - SX4 & Swift D
9. Shazikon - ikon or Swift
10. Psycho - Mercedes W124
11. Iceman91 - Baleno

From Chennai
1. Nitrous - Short Ratio Mistress
2. yzfrj - Zen
3. sathee46 - Fiesta S? currently in Chennai or Bangalore?

@Siddharta - All cars can be on track simultaneously. There are no limitations on the number of laps you can do. We just have a time limit.

You can have multiple folks at the same time. However please let a faster car thru and don't hold them up.

Thanks Guys, these inputs help a lot.

So this means that I can't be there in my Gypsy. So it will be the Palio or I will hitch in with someone as a spectator :-)

BTW, for helmets, can we get them on rent there?

EDIT: Stupid question, but still, how much time it takes do do a lap. just wondering what's the ballpark time figure & how many KM's it is

EDIT Again:

Amit that was because of that event going on there and some were lost on the track including a bus.

@Khan - They dont have helmets there. We will need to carry them.

No it is not a maze. There was an event going on there last time of the Chennai Car Accessories Dealers Association or something. The bus was looking for a way out of the paddocks and ended on the track. Imagine my surprise when I take a corner and 80 kmph and see a huge bus in front of me. I think it was going the wrong way too after I pulled into the pit lane.

Seatbelts are compulsary.

Its going to be hot at track so be prepared,i would suggest a nike/adidas -dry fit/climacool t-shirt and a pair of shorts -- Remember your going to be inside a car with the windows 3/4th up(compulsary) and you wouldn't want to put on the A/c.Wear comfy shoes and carry a cap

Carry lots of water.Alcohol isn't permitted trackside.Serious!

All the Ice-heads,you might want to make arrangements to keep you subwoofer etc,as they might not be allowed inside the car(We were asked to remove this at kari)

Check tubeless tires, for nails/punctures anything which could pose a problem.

Original docs,licence .. Hmm

Carry a cellphone car charger.

Hunh? I remember it always being per car. Unless they have changed the rules off lately.

I am posting this from Chennai, its super hot here. I suggest you guys reach Chennai by early 5th morning and let the engines cool down a bit before heading to track. Could be a bad idea to drive to the track all the way from Bangy and start belting.

Still not confirmed if I shall be bringing the swift d or the baleno, but got to be in Chennai for some personal work on the 4th. So count me in.

Shahnawaz, driving the Gypsy on track is actually super fun. Those who think otherwise, have obviously missed the event where headers got his gypsy on track. That vehicle was the star of the day IMO.

PS: Chennai annas how about a meet this Saturday? Vikram, John, nitrous?
