k.

Not so sure. Question is more how BBC going to afford not having this show anymore. It is going to put a very serious dent in their overall budget.

But moving on:

Jeremy Clarkson coming back to BBC, but not to Top Gear

Jeremy Clarkson coming back to BBC, but not to Top Gear

http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-32214799

Jeremy Clarkson to host Have I Got News For You

Jeremy Clarkson is set to make his first appearance on the BBC since losing his job as co-presenter on Top Gear.

The controversial broadcaster will appear as the guest host of Have I Got News for You on 24 April.

"Jeremy's contract has not been renewed on Top Gear but he isn't banned from appearing on the BBC," a BBC spokesman said.

Clarkson has hosted the satirical news quiz on numerous occasions.
During one appearance in 2008, he threw a pen at regular panellist Ian Hislop that left the latter with a cut on his face.

Clarkson was suspended by the BBC on 10 March following a "fracas" with Top Gear producer Oisin Tymon in a hotel in North Yorkshire.

Mr Tymon suffered swelling and a split lip in the assault on 4 March and visited a hospital A&E department for his injuries.

Following an internal investigation, the BBC announced on 25 March Clarkson's contract on Top Gear would not be renewed.

More than a million fans signed a petition to reinstate the presenter, but BBC director general Tony Hall said "a line has been crossed" and "there cannot be one rule for one and one rule for another".

On Tuesday, North Yorkshire Police said there was "no need for further action" against Clarkson following an inquiry into the "fracas".

Top Gear is watched by some 350 million viewers worldwide and is one of the BBC's biggest properties - with overseas sales worth an estimated £50m a year.

The BBC has said the show will continue without Clarkson, however it is unclear whether co-presenters James May and Richard Hammond will remain.

Clarkson was always a rude, imbecilic idiot with a flair for dramatics.

But as ever Top Gear fan would agree, he was OUR idiot. :(
Sad to see him leave. He did many things in the past that they could've fired him for. This just seems like an overreaction to me, after all the shenanigans they've tolerated from him.

Re: Jeremy Clarkson suspended for allegedly punching a producer. EDIT- Now released from B

He's indicated that "we" may be back, but has completely dissociated himself, verbally albeit, with the brand.
Lets see what happens!
I think he outed himself since they forced the guys to do 10 episodes!!!

In the meantime, I went through season 1 and 2 of the new TG. The koenigsegg film, first one, the black car, I think thats where you begin to see the shift in production value and presentation.

Top Gear Trio to return outside of BBC ?

Quote:
Top Gear will never be the same again now that Jeremy Clarkson has left the BBC -or will it ?

Clarkson hinted on a comeback while he spoke to the audience at a charity auction for Chipping Norton Lido.

During Jeremy Clarkson's first appearance since he was officially axed from BBC Top Gear, the former motoring presenter auctioned off a selection of Top Gear memorabilia. Clarkson also thanked the fans for "coming to see an unemployed man."

Before auctioning a signed Top Gear 'The Stig' T-shirt, Clarkson said a joke that hinted that Jezza might be hiding a trick up his sleeve.

"Now some of you know there used to be a program called Top Gear. It was on the BBC," said Jeremy Clarkson. "But we could be back somewhere else. Or maybe even not somewhere else, who knows?"

Jeremy Clarkson did not reveal further details, but it certainly suggests that the automotive journalist is prepping a show on a rival network. What's more, Clarkson's statement "But we could be back..." suggests that his co-presenters James May and Richard Hammond may join him on the new program as well.

In a previous article, we reported on a rumor that Jeremy Clarkson may be working out a deal for a motoring show with online streaming service Netflix. Netflix allegedly offered Clarkson total freedom and control over his show as part of the deal.

Stay tuned as we learn more about the future of Jeremy Clarkson and Top Gear.

Re: Jeremy Clarkson suspended for allegedly punching a producer. EDIT- Now released from B

Its been reported that BBC 2 will air some of the unseen Top Gear episodes in the coming days. Even the ones that have Jeremy Clarkson in them.
Quote:
The controller of BBC2 has confirmed that footage from episodes of Top Gear cancelled in the wake of the Jeremy Clarkson ‘fracas’ will be broadcast later this year – including segments featuring the axed star.

Clarkson’s contract was not renewed after his much-publicised physical and verbal attack on a producer, but BBC2 chief Kim Shillinglaw stated this week: “Jeremy will be back on the BBC.”

Shillinglaw confirmed that the popular TV show would return in a revised format, and that footage from the cancelled episodes – including those scenes featuring Clarkson – would not be wasted.

“There is no way I would not want the available material not to be seen by viewers,” she said. “You'll see it when it's on air.

“It will certainly be this year and probably this summer.”

Re: Jeremy Clarkson suspended for allegedly punching a producer. EDIT- Now released from B

BBC + JC,RH,JM = essence of Top Gear.

What fans don't understand is, what made Top Gear the best is the budget and production technology of the BBC with the chemistry of the trio.

The hosts can be replaced but it will not have the same punch and soul.

The trio can move to another network but without the production finesse of the BBC, it would lack the same sparkle.

There are plenty of factual car programmes one can see online...but this was entertaining television for petrolheads and it would be very difficult to replicate the same when vital ingredients are missing.

James May quits Top Gear saying show would be 'lame' without Jeremy Clarkson and the BBC would be 'stupid' to try - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...-Clarkson.html

So, if they come back, it will have to be with a new team. Sad days.

It seems that the BBC just might have Clarkson back, looking at the amount of negative publicity, and the struggle of trying to milk a golden egg laying hen.

May has himself said that it's just the contract that has not been renewed, there's nothing to stop the beeb from taking him back on.
If they do, however, he's going to have them over such a barrel!!

Daily Mirror UK reported an interesting news, couple of days back.
Quote:
'Doctor told me I might have cancer two days before Top Gear fracas', says Jeremy Clarkson as he describes day he punched producer as the'most stressful in 27 years at BBC'
Clarkson said he had now been given the all-clear, but wrote in his column in The Sunday Times: ‘That was the most stressful day I have ever had in 27 years at the BBC.

Re: Jeremy Clarkson suspended for allegedly punching a producer. EDIT- Now released from B

1. BBC and Clarkson should kiss & make up
2. Top Gear should be back with Clarkson, May & Hammond
3. The guy who got punched should be the 'Star in a reasonably priced car'... Ok, they should probably let him test the Ferrari 488T in one of the upcoming shows

I'm a big fan, but seriously - Clarkson is one of the biggest oafs around and was punished for crossing the line. Nobody is above the law.

BBC reports that James May will not return to Top Gear unless Clarkson is back. Both May and Hammond have not renewed their contracts.

And Wilman goes too...
http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-32437814

That leaves Hammond to confirm things.
