Thanks. I have narrowed it down to Vw Sportwagen with 6 speed manual. The main reason being I need carry my road bike in summers for club rides and granfondos. I am still debating whether to get 4motion or not.

Re: Buying, Owning, Driving and Maintaining a car in North America

Hey Guys, is Prius II a reliable car? I am looking to buy a car for 100% city drive, and have been offered a 2010 Prius II with 180K on the ODO for 4K. I will go for it if the car doesn't require any repairs for next 1 year

Sorry, I hope I didn't offended you in any which way. That is not my intention.
Not at all my friend. In fact, I know a lot of people who are very happy with their lease, and theres always the joy of driving a new car at a lower price.
I need to mention that I live in Iowa, and leases are typically more expensive in Ames, the city where I live in, than say Omaha or Chicago. So a lease for a BMW would be much more here. Location matters quite a bit for a lease.

The Prius battery is really expensive ($2K) and is to be replaced at 200K miles. I'm not sure of these numbers but its somewhere around that mark.
Toyota's otherwise are benchmarks for reliability and I wouldn't worry too much about getting a used one. Though $4k for a 2010 sounds pretty low to me.
I'd take it to an independent mechanic for a full inspection and also check the title to make sure its clean

I did not know that you can't leave your car running with keys in the ignition! Turns out that there is a max 5 minute idling law in Massachusetts as well. New Hampshire doesn't care though, unless you drive a diesel. I have seen "No Idling" signs at rest areas on the New Jersey turnpike but I did not know that many states have this as a law!

NH has some tight emission and noise laws and also window tints too! Live free and die irony.

Amit you still driving the Charger? We should meet up sometime.

If the battery is toast, it would endup being a heavy under powered car. That said, one could source the hybrid battery from a crashed car. If this is going to be your first car, and the only car, I would recommend getting it installed from a dealer. The cost of hybrid batteries have come down from $5k to less than $2k now.
I have a 2014 Prius, it is great as a family car for city driving. No fun, under powered and noisy on the freeways. The crazy gas mileage has a trade off after all.

Congratulations! Nice color.
How many miles on it?
Any experience yet of people's reactions when you tell them about what engine it has?
