Re: The 2014 F1 Season

"F14 Scuderia" or "F1 Maranello" would lead to a lot of interesting news articles with intended pun.

Can't wait to hear someone say "Maranello on fire" if a Marussia engine blows up. Are they out of their minds to get into all such stuff?

The double-points finish rule for the final race of the season is likely to stay, according to Lotus team boss Eric Boullier.

I do not know whether it would be a good year in terms of race pace or getting into points. However as predicted SFI surely is getting its moolahs ringing after inducting heavily financially backed Mexican driver Sergio Perez , here checo gets one of his Mexican promoters on board to be teams official sponsors for the 2014 season & beyond. As speculated more & more Mexican sponsors are believed to be moving on board to sponsor the SFI for 2014 by the start of the season lead by the Telmex group. Good news for the team as this was very much required to lend a helping hand to the team's finances for the season as both parent companies UB Group & Sahara India Parivar are facing heavy debts situation & an uncertain future in F1.

Dennis replaces Whitmarsh as McLaren Group CEO

Ron Dennis has returned to the role of McLaren Group chief executive officer, a position Martin Whitmarsh has held since 2009 when he took over from Dennis as F1 team principal.

Dennis’s new responsibilities will include examining the competitiveness of their racing outfit. Last year McLaren failed to score a podium finish all season.

Big news. Hope the same happens at Man U! Though, honestly I dont know how much of a difference it will make.

The first mistake they made was not offering Hamilton an attractive enough offer right away and letting him think about Mercedes. Winning a title with Button/Magnussen is highly unlikely.

Now they have lost Vodafone title sponsorship as well.

I'm so happy Ron is back.

I'm not sure if his managerial skills will have an impact on the 2014 performance this late, Unless somehow McLaren is quick right out of the box.
I think Ron would be better off focusing on the 'Works' Honda setup for 2015. Time will tell...

Either way I'm ecstatic to see Twitmarsh loose his influence on this team!.

This IS the moment of truth for McLaren.
Whitmarsh is trashed and so can Jense, Sam Michael etc.
Bring back Lewis.
Hire Brawn. Honda will be there in 2015.

2014 is all but gone for McLaren. A real chance for Force India to take that crucial step.

One more observation, Dennis In and Bernie Out - same time - slightly fishy coincidence. Let the rumour mills begin.

One of these potential team owners is Gene Haas. He is the co-owner of the Stewart-Haas Racing Team that competes in NASCAR, based in North Carolina, US. They already seem to have a wind tunnel that F1 teams have also used in the past. If its true, its good to see more competitive teams entering the sport.

Not sure who the other team might be.

Re: The 2014 F1 Season

They say having an American driver will be very good for F1. I assume they mean more American eye balls, A market F1 has historically struggle to crack. I wonder if having an American Team will have the same effect though.

I'd be supportive of any new team, American or otherwise, to join F1 as long as they can be competitive and not HRT like. A new team that can match the mid-field and above should add spice!

Re: The 2014 F1 Season

Its great to see Ron the Don back !! Peter Prodromou is coming from Red Bull next year. If Ron can snatch Kimi or Alonso from Ferrari, put Jensen in THE smaller seat, Mclaren will hopefully back to glory days.

Re: The 2014 F1 Season

New rumours about Dacia planning to enter F1!

Quote:
An unlikely name is being linked with a potential F1 foray for 2015.

Earlier, it emerged that former Force India and HRT boss Colin Kolles was among the bidders for pitlane's final 2015 spot.

The Caradisiac publication reports that Kolles has the backing of "Romanian entities", with the aim "to promote the country's image and businesses".

Enter the name Dacia.

It is a Romanian carmaker, renowned for its unspectacular Logan and Duster models.

Since 1999, it has been owned by Renault, the French marque and F1 engine supplier.

What next? Maruti and Hyundai? Considering that F1 is drifting towards "kitna deti hai" attitude and cost cutting, they will stand a chance with the budget caps.

Why leave Mahindra, add them to the mix and then we can have an amazing slugfest.
Hyundai is climbing up the ladder and probably knock on F1's door by 2020. Who knows, Formula E might be more famous then ?
