Sahara owns 49% of the team. Black is quite striking.

Re: The 2014 F1 Season

Here's the official pre-launch render of this year's Williams car in its test livery.

We can see the nose in this image unlike the FI image and as expected, it looks quite ugly.

Re: The 2014 F1 Season

Is this the official picture? The front wing looks wider for a 2014 spec

Yes, it is an official render. If you observe closely, the front wing is slightly inside the border of the tire, whereas the current front wings pretty much line up to the edge of the tire.

Re: The 2014 F1 Season

Williams have officially unveiled the FW36 & it is pretty much the same render posted above by nipcarlover. That front nose is just butt-ugly! Will be interesting to see all the cars lining up for testing in Jerez next week.

Re: The 2014 F1 Season

It looks like the 2013 wing and its only a launch spec anyway.

Check out this image. This shows the difference between the 2013 front wing and the 2014 front wing.

Great comparison of both cars.
The so called ant eater solution keeping the nose as possible (as per 2014 regulation nose tip to be at 185 mm) to maximize airflow under the car before achieving the required height with dramatic steep downwards.
This kind of design is widely expected to be used across the grid, although a few teams are believed to have alternative solutions. (Lets keep our finger crossed for that).

I am sure Sir Frank Williams must be hoping & praying that this ant eater front end design & New engine supplier Mercedes should save them from repeating another pathetic debacle performance as 2013.

Re: The 2014 F1 Season

The front wing elements look similar and the pylons looks unfinished too, it could be a render just for the launch. Sorry, I could be entirely wrong too

Nico Rosberg reveals his helmet for the 2014 season.

Finally, there shall be no confusion between him and lewis.

I thought a pink helmet would be the worst possible scenario but I stand corrected!

Re: The 2014 F1OThe Season

Oh my! So Craig Scarborough was right. I am afraid we will have to get used to that thing on the nose of many cars this year.

I think the FIA should fix this. All they need to do is to specify the minimum width for the leading edge of the nose with tapered side instead of a step cut. If its at the cost of air flow, then so be it. This is worse than the stepped nose. F1 car should be an object of desire, something boys (both young and old) are proud to put up on their bedroom wall.

Also, it looks like the rule to award double points for the last race of the season is here to stay. FIA didn't bother to even discuss this in the World Motor Sport Council meeting yesterday.

Other new rules which are waiting for approval by the F1 Commission.
  1. Drivers are set to be banned from stopping cars on slowing-down laps in a bid to save fuel for post-race checks.
  2. Potential 5 second penalties that may be handed out by stewards in 2014 can be taken by drivers shortly before any planned pitstops.
  3. 6 'joker' curfews in 2014, up from the previous 2, because of the complications caused by new engines and cars.
  4. F1 team personnel are also going to have to wear helmets in the pits during qualifying.
  5. The weight limit of cars has also been increased by 1kg to 691kg because of the heavier Pirelli tyres that are being introduced.
FIA tightens post-race Formula 1 fuel check rules

No! I think a man of Ross Brawn's caliber would suit the role of team principal of struggling Mclaren team more efficiently than anybody else on F1 grid currently (No disregard to Mr.Sam Micheals ). moreover he has once & always proved why he has been considered one of the greatest executioner in F1 history with his stint with Ferrari, Brawn GP & Mercedes. I think Mclaren should make all out efforts to Ross onboard , for me I believe would be the man who can turn Mclaren's fortunes around.
