re: 1st Satin White Mahindra XUV500 W8 FWD on Team-BHP. EDIT: 85,000 kms up

Kedar, got a set of 4 or 5?

I am assuming that these are the same size as the stock tyres. Good to see that there are options available in that size. The JK/Bridgestones at the service center cost 12-15K per tyre. So 9K seems like a steal!

Any noticeable difference in tyre-noise?

Hey Kedar,

I am glad to note that M&M is replacing parts that are failing under warranty. How many years of warranty is left on your car ?

Coming to the tyres, do Pirelli tyres have any warranty and replacement support in India ?

The OE Bridgestone tyres were H/T.

Any specific reason for selecting A/T over a H/T ?

I have a total of 3 years warranty and unlimited kms, since I had booked it on the first day, else it is 2 years and 1,00,000 kms.

I chose AT just because they were priced at 9k,everything else was 14K and up.

Fortuner is fun only when your driving yourself, with chauffer the ride on fortuner is very bumpy on the second row and thigh support is inadequate and you cant rest your foot under co drivers seat.
In XUV 5OO on the second row,you can easily shove your foot under co drivers seat and feel comfortable!!!

Just went to this ownership thread of yours. It's kind of a roller-coaster ride !! From being dissatisfied with niggles and pathetic services to utmost satisfaction and love towards the Product as well as Service.

With your permission, I've a couple of queries:
  • Does G3, Goregaon have a dedicated service team for XUV like Global Gallarie, Thane? How do you rate service at G3 - in terms of cost and workmanship?
  • With all the claims under warranty, what is the total service cost every time?
  • What all have you claimed under warranty till date?

Yes they do have a dedicated team especially for XUV500.G3 is 10/10.They are a professional team and quite helpful

I have just paid for break pads and disc skimming in these 70,000kms.Regular services costed me under 3-5K Rs every 10,000 kms.
  • What all have you claimed under warranty till date?

clutch plate x twice
Ac gas charge x twice
engine mounts
infotainment system
complete lock barrel set and keys
and many more things, but it was done under warranty and I didnt pay a single penny.Hope this helps.

re: 1st Satin White Mahindra XUV500 W8 FWD on Team-BHP. EDIT: 85,000 kms up

Completed 75000 kms today and no major issues to report.Just replaced the OEM battery with new Exide express, coz one cell had conked off in the oem battery resulting in a dead battery.Damage was 6300Rs after exchanging old battery.
After changing the tyres it drives really well.

All in all a very wise decision to go for the desi cheetah!!!Proud of you Mahindra!!!

I think you are the person I know who has run the XUV maximum, at least on the forum. Thats really some running in two and half years. Translates to about 2500kms per month!

Would really love to see a detailed long ownership report, expenditures and experiences.
How about a latest pic?

@kedarwalke, where in Mumbai did you get the Pirelli's from. I have looked at a couple of dealers and they all are quoting me upwards of 15K per tyre.

Hi Kedar,

I had been reading your thread on Fortuner till I came across your XUV thread.

I have Fortuner as my prime car but also own a XUV in own family and often end up comparing both of them.

When you said you liked XUV for back seat comfort, I immediately agreed but is it a substantial differentiator as far as seating comfort is concerned ?

I find the seating comfort in XUV better only on good roads, the moment you have a bad or uneven road, XUV behaves differently.
