Don't recollect the exact numbers, but I remember thinking "this 2-lakh investment is worth it as I plan to keep the car for a long time".

Hey GTO, your 530D thread is a real inspiration. Here is my 2015 328i. Almost 9 years old and i plan to keep it for as long as i can. These BMWs are very reliable if serviced on time.

Maverick, that's a gorgeous 328. Every time I drive mine, I fall in love with it a little more.

Thanks! Your 328i is equally an iconic sedan, thanks to that wild motor under the hood.

There is something special about driving an immaculately-maintained old European car with a powerful motor. Anyone can buy a brand new one today, but it takes a special kind of nut who will lovingly keep & enjoy the car for a long time.

As an example, a well-maintained E60 530d or W124 will turn my head a lot more than....someone driving a 2023 E-Class.

I am myself surprised on both points.

This is my first daily that I'm keeping beyond the 10-year mark. At least 2 - 3 years more, I reckon.

Second, the stupendously good reliability! Now, at the 10-year mark, I am totally fine with 1 big part failure a year...but the 530d keeps surprising me! This 10-year old supposedly high maintenance luxury car has - in the last year - shown less niggles than her garage mate, a brand-new equally-loved Thar.

Completely agree with you GTO. Also the condition based service intervals on these BMW make it really convenient in the long run. I am also planning a downpipe and a tune on my 328i to give it some more spice and excitement.
It is also true that new Thar is a niggle box they keep on cropping again and again which is actually frustrating specially for the owners who like to keep their cars in top shape. Hope your AVO suspension do not give you any troubles, in our group we have been facing a lot of issues off lately.

So true! My car's second last service visit was in Jan 2022. The next workshop visit was a full 18 months post that. No need to visit the workshop at all. No niggle, no problem, no maintenance.

Please share details of the AVO problems on my Thar ownership thread (My Modified Mahindra Thar 4x4 Review | Red Turbo-Petrol AT Convertible). Will greatly help others if it is moving from "recommended" to "not recommended" status for Thar owners. Please outline all problems with the resolution offered. Thank you.

Congrats, looks like you picked this car up recently from Dhruv. It was on sale for a while and another moderator was looking at it quite keenly before he got one in Bangalore itself with KA plates.

Re: BMW 530d M-Sport (F10) : My pre-worshipped beast

Took mine for a ride recently and I must say it doesn't fail to put a smile on my face. And every time I rip the beast I feel like a lucky man

Your car looks great! It's nearing the 10 year mark, right? Where will you get it re registered? Or are you planning to sell it?

I've just realised something....are you running a custom exhaust?
Care to share details of that or any other mods you're running?

Hi, I am running Miltek Sports UK resonated exhaust along with Bilstein B6 shocks. Planning to get a downpipe as well and then go to Stage 1 tune.

Couple of things to keep inind that I'm sharing from my own current experience:

1. You don't need any bolt-on mods whatsoever to get a Stage 1. I'm running Bootmod3 (have been for the last 5 years) and as long as you keep it Stage 1, you don't need any other mods.

2. In Stage 1, the car's an absolute rocket. I leave VRSs for dead.

3. I would save money on the downpipe if I were you. The gain is extremely minor if you go catted, and if you go catless theres always going to be a smell to the exhaust that may not be to your liking.

Re: BMW 530d M-Sport (F10) : My pre-worshipped beast

Thank you for your valuable inputs. I know that Stage 1 tune does not require any additional hardware but i might upgrade to Stage 2 ECU and XHP TCU tune going forward along with charge pipes and a FMIC. So just keeping my options open at the moment.

Thanks! Yeah I am planning on getting it re registered in hp or chandigarh because the registration cost in Maharashtra is very expensive, i think it should be around 8 lakhs. Although it's an old car in years but as we all know it has a timeless design and it still looks as classy as any new luxury car on the road today. And ofcourse the 6 cylinders, 260 horsepower, the m sport package and the reliability stands out even today 😎

I didn’t know one could still get Dunlop tyres, and more so, for these modern cars! It seems a bit ironical that one of the pioneers of tyre making, is now so far down on the ‘pecking order.’ Clearly a case of ‘first mover disadvantage’.

Wishing you safe miles on your Yokos!
