The part numbers are 990J0M999H2-930 and 990J0M999H2-950 for Rain repellent and Oil Film remover, and they cost Rs. 450 and Rs. 650 respectively. One pack is sufficient for around 2 cars(all glasses).

You may also want to try 3M wipers, they are simply awesome when compared to Syndicate ones which comes as OEM in MGP.

We have a 2010 i10 in our family which has lots of hard water marks/stains on the windscreen. Could I use the Glaco Oil film remover to remove the hard water marks?
Yes. Just make sure not to press too hard against the windshield.

Thanks for this. My Baleno has very bad stains on the windscreen from water drying on it. Let me give this a shot.

Can't wait for the full set of modifications on you export edition M800! The car looks a treat.

Drive on,

Sure Sir. This thing is very effective. Just make sure not to press too hard against the glass, pressure should be very natural and balanced.

It's easily available with dealership's MGA section. I'd recommend the water repellant too, for prevention of water marks. Wipe it as soon as it's applied else even a 2 second delay can be catastrophic.

That's a nice idea. Let me think of the mods and make a list of all the additions(small or big).

re: The love of my life - A 2000 Maruti 800 DX 5-Speed. EDIT: Gets export model features on Pg 27

Rear wiper and Fog Light Story: One day in 2014, thanks to a friend in MSIL, I got this:

The love of my life - A 2000 Maruti 800 DX 5-Speed. EDIT: Gets export model features on Pg 27-20170303-20.53.33.jpg

I had never seen it in pics, so the search began and I came to know that MSIL used to export huge numbers to Egypt. So I downloaded most of the pics that they had put online.

The love of my life - A 2000 Maruti 800 DX 5-Speed. EDIT: Gets export model features on Pg 27-finallyifounditandiwillshareitwithyou_f1094.jpg

So it was a long cherished dream, but the issues were, my self imposed restrictions:

1. Installation had to be clean and OEM. Using jugaads, many people have installed rear wiper setups, but they all looked out of place and afterthought.

Some installations:

The love of my life - A 2000 Maruti 800 DX 5-Speed. EDIT: Gets export model features on Pg 27-19012011009-1.jpg

The love of my life - A 2000 Maruti 800 DX 5-Speed. EDIT: Gets export model features on Pg 27-img20170121wa0029.jpg

2. Getting all parts were a pain. Maruti has restricted sale of many parts in India as they are export specific. After getting shipped from Japan, some small parts have become extremely expensive.

3. I wished to retain the original paint. Any sort of repaint was a strict no no.

So after almost 3 years of planning, R&D and parts collection, I was finally ready in March. Another issue was, I had no measurement of the hole location. That was taken care of purchasing a scrapped Boot door from scrapyard and experimenting on it. We did many mistakes on that, and I was glad we decided to experiment on another boot.

Another challenge which came in our way, was that we needed one bracket inside the hatch(wiper in 800 was link based system, not directly on motor). But welding it meant original paint gone. After some research, found these JB weld cold weld formula, and a friend coming from US brought it down. It's strength can easily endure 4000PSI and I personally checked that metal pasted by JB weld could take around 150kgs without breaking. So mission accomplished.

So finally after many discussions, denter told he can carefully make a hole with sharp chisel and hammer. It took him 3 hours of careful hammering and filing, but the result was well worth it. The hole is as good as OEM.

Long story cut short, today we installed the setup. I'll be detailing every step from day 1, but for the time being, enjoy some pics:

Admiration begins as soon as the setup is on:

The love of my life - A 2000 Maruti 800 DX 5-Speed. EDIT: Gets export model features on Pg 27-20180517_171347.jpg

The car stayed out in public for just half an hour and I stopped at 3 places, I was questioned by 12 people. It surely has become a headturner.

However, not everything is perfect. Some quirks:

1. Export model cars didn't get HMSL. Indian versions had. The wiper arm covers some 5% area of the HMSL if viewed from behind.

2. I have noticed most of the Indian cars get fogs on right side or in middle. Not sure what the rule says, but this is what all 800s RHD or LHD got, so I had little options.

Regards,
Shashi

Wow, your M800's rear has really transformed after the installation of the rear wiper & the unique bumper mounted fog light. The thing I like most about your mods are that you only use OEM parts, no matter how difficult or costly it gets . No aftermarket juggad can match an OEM fit, the OEM fit looks so much better.

I personally think that a hatchback doesn't look complete without a rear wiper & sadly this feature has gone missing from many A-segment hatchbacks in India. Even premium hatchbacks like the Hyundai i20 only has a rear wiper in the top Asta (O) variant.

I noticed the placement of the wiper arm w.r.t the HMSL just because you mentioned it, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed. So, in short I believe this isn't something that you should be bothered about. Maybe in the future you could move up the HMSL from the bottom of the glass to the top, like the Alto 800/K10.

Thanks a lot. True, nothing beats an OEM looking setup.

Yes it's not that evident in real life. Alto 800/K10 setup wont work in 800, the boot won't close if I mount it like that.

Thanks Shashi,

Videos are simple to understand.

While bleeding the Power Brake mechanism, isn’t it necessary to keep the engine on?

Otherwise the air vacuum system will not work and paddle will stuck after a few pushes?

Congrats. Loved the perfect execution.

This makes your GG the only one of its kind in India.

All that is missing is a detailed guide on the following:

1. Rear demister + parts required
2. Rear fog
3. Rear wash + wipe?

Yes engine should be on while performing brake bleeding if it's a vacuum assisted booster brake.

@leoshashi, who could ever imagine a little M800 being treated, nah, worshipped is the word, more than luxury cars on this forum? These are great accessory upgrades and the fitting quality is excellent.

It's not necessary to leave the engine on. Once a bleeder valve is open & you press down on the pedal, it will gradually sink and drive out old fluid and air bubbles out of the open valve. But leaving the engine makes it easier to push the pedal to bleed the brakes.

With old cars it's preferable not to push the pedal to the floor as the MC piston may travel to a part of the cylinder (stroke) it never would in normal operation. The unused part of the MC generally has grit and other deposits and sometimes a groove which, if they come into contact with the brake piston seal can cause them to leak/fail. Keep a block of wood or other object under the pedal and try and ensure the travel is about the same it experiences in day to day operation. The drawback is it will take longer to bleed the brakes & the big advantage being you won't have to run the risk of messing the MC and requiring to replace it.

Also, I prefer to have the engine off (unless absolutely necessary) when a car is on jack stands or a hoist for safety reasons.

This is wonderful practical information. The piston might also get stuck forever in that position and not return back making the master cylinder worthless.

Thanks!

@saket77, that groove is generally light and won't prevent the plunger/piston from returning to its normal position because there are spring(s) with enough extension/recoil strength to push the piston back out.

But during the compression and decompression stroke the seal could come into contact with contaminants and/or that wear groove which many cause the seal to fail necessitating a replacement. This is not to say it WILL happen but could happen. Replacing and bleeding the MC and the entire brake hydraulic system is a PITA. More so if the car has ABS and sundry high tech braking technologies that makes it more complicated and requires the correct tools. Better safe than sorry.

PS - This does not apply to hydraulic clutch systems in which the piston/plunger travels through the length of the bore in normal operation. You can happily depress the pedal to the floor to flush or bleed the clutch line and slave cylinder.

The Goose receives some more pampering: LED bulb upgrades for HMSL, Fog Light, reverse lights and Brake lights. I absolutely hated chinese unbranded stuff, despite them being super cheap compared to Philips and Osram. Locally these bulbs were available for an earth shattering price of Rs. 2000 per LED . 6 Bulbs would have meant 12k which was too much asking price.

Powerbulbs story: One day, I saw 30% off on Powerbulbs, and even if I accounted for customs(which they did charge me, a hefty 42%), It was still way cheaper. Order was placed on 8th April and they did promise me delivery within 14 business days. However they had sent using standard shipping, which lacked any tracking. The package still hasn't reached me. They promptly sent me another package on 8th May with a tracking id, and it reached me yesterday. Service of Powerbulbs.com is excellent!!

My main purpose of installing LEDs was energy saving. But I must say I'm very impressed with their brightness and sharpness. The way they instantly turn on and off without any lag is remarkable.

Time for some pics:
