Guys, my swift just threw up the service light indicator. The AC was on but it stopped cooling and just the blower was working. I took it to local MASS and on connecting with Tech2, it should radiator fan malfunction. They replaced the fuse but the fuse got blown off again. The car get heated up more than normal levels. Though the temp gauge still hovers around half way mark. The service center guys said that the radiator motor has short circuited inside leading to this scenario. Has it got to do anything with AC system? The car has run 14000 kms.

Whether in car or house, fuses blowing should always be taken seriously: it is always a sign of a problem somewhere else.

Hi All,
I had posted a query about hearing fuel sloshing noise in my Swift VDI (2008, 11000 kms) on another forum but did not get any response. The link to that post is here.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...ml#post1470611

I also smell diesel at the time of filling at the diesel station (Shell). Can anyone suggest as to what should I check to fix the sloshing noise and diesel smell?

thanks

Finished another 1000km. now at 28,000. Steering is a bit jerky. Tyres started to wobble. Went to Sai iyengars who rules out a puncture and says i can run for another 20k easily with these tyres. on other stuff, the accident-ed tyre can be patched so left it there for patching up. will cost me 450 bucks for damage control.

rattles have gone up a bit. my main worry now is the wobbling. i hate it. its puts off me off.

lets see how far this car goes. job scares in all corners too.

29,000 done. patched tyre still not taken back (can you believe it, 1000kms done, but no time to pick a tyre). one left side small indicator was bumped into by someone and its now constantly popping out. no time to repair it. on the way to 30k milestone. as for the car, rest is all well. its the best drivers car in this side of 7 lac, but still not the most comfortable or 'want to be in' car for others other than driver.

Congrats!!! You better get a new tyre.

what is the kind of FE you get in city with 100%AC and on highway with 100%AC???

I get 16kmpl with AC, 17kmpl without. and about 17-18 on highways. not much differences. of course i am NOT a mundane driver.

Finally picked up my patched tyre after a month. Too many things to catch up with at home and office. The left side indicator has popped out thanks to some nut case who bumped in. It was hanging like that for one or two weeks (lack of time) until its now repaired.

As I dream of purchasing my next car, a few questions are paramount to be answered

1. It must be a diesel or petrol
2. Its for one person or the family going forward
3. Something I can keep for 10-15 years (with full service/spares)
4. Must I buy sedan or MUV (no SUV for me)
5. Would it be between honda/toyota only?
6. Would it be upto 10 lac or upto 12 lac

of course when time comes .....
For now my swift VDI keeps me happy, with easy driveability in city, good mileage (nothing to compare here) and engine reliability (car feels like day one even now).

Hey looked your thread after long time. Good going, so you are tired of your car or want to buy bigger one! In any case my suggestion to you is chosoe between ANHC or Innova! Based on your experience and expectations these two are your best cars.

If you do more highway driving and less congested city driving then nothing can beat Innova. If you look for allrounder think about ANHC. Both are amazing products. Even after 10-15 years you can get excellant resale value for these vehicles.

Don't fall prey to SX4 or Manza or Linea!

Congrats on your Swift Diesel for serving you for 2 years (i think so)!!

Ravi.

Malfunction indicator

The Emission Control Malfunction system indicator in my swift started glowing all of a sudden. and at that time, my fuel indicator was pointing to E, (may 5 liters left). I was planning to take it to service station the next day. But in the evening, I refuelled, (as usual, tank full) and after that I noticed that the malfunction indicator turned off.

Any ideas, as to whether this could be a possible indication of potential problem? Or could it be due to some sediments in the fuel tank getting through the engine, as the fuel tank went near empty (I have not let the fuel level to go that low before)?

The manual refers this indicator as the "Malfunction Indicator Light" in the Ownership Manual.

Attached the excerpt from the Manual.
