@beanstalk I felt that my engine noise is louder now at 1500 km, defenitely the engine is smoother, most of it maybe about getting used to ride.
How does your engine sound now? Do you have any problems with rattling inside the car?

I get a steady 14 kmpl on 60% city 40% highway, driven somewhat sanely.
I haven't crossed 145 yet
throttleking, have you changed the steering wheel??

@ theMAG - only doing city stuff with my ride and gives me around 13-13.5 and though i noticed that keeping it 2k - 3k band gives a good mileage and more than required performance for city driving.

@ kris905 - yeah the engine sound has settled down a lot and still i try keeping the engine idle atleast for half a minute in the mornings and i suppose that helps a lot. i have done around 7600 kms.

No rattling issues though to be very frank i have been driving on one of the worst roads you could imagine. I am very sure the suspension would need work soon but cant help it coz those are the roads (shouldnt call them that) i gotta drive on... totally pathetic.

@ throttleking - lucky you. but i think id be better of with it. lets see what i end up with.

Now the problem - the lcd would be fixed up on the dash and i think that would need some kind of drilling or something. So is it a good prospect or should i just go with the plain sensors???

I am getting mileage of 12kmpl to 13.5kmpl in city, never manage to get 14+kmpl in city, however most of the roads I travel in Pune usually has busy traffic, I do drive with AC on all the time, secondly if I have to wait somewhere inside the car, I never switch off the engine. On the other hand I never get a chance to push beyond 80-100kmph in the city (that too sometimes), otherwise usually traffic allows me to ride below 50-60kmph.

On highways, with AC on I got mileage between 14-16kmpl, and all depends on how you drive, I never care about the mileage once I have bought the car coz there is nothing that you can dramatically change. Drove at 195kmph on express way and got about 14+kmpl. Engine was still left with some more push, I think it can do beyond

kris : i havent change steering wheel yet....looking for some better option.

195!!! Im still to find roads to do that. How does the engine sound then? I dont think i can do 150+ with stock rubber. The car was planted at 145, was that so at 195 as well?

You are right, i always felt that the engine had more to offer at any speed and any gear, Awesome

Climate control unit for elantra costs 60k, Chevy's unit must be costlier than this.

I managed to do that on Express way only, for few sec i could managed to do 180 on bangalore highway as well (but at night).

honestly the car is rock stable at that speed, and straight line stability is amazing, engine roars but not like turbine and depending on road surface you will experience the different noice levels inside the car and different vibration in clutch. Breaking is also good but requires lots of guess work....

i dont drive without wearing seatbelts, doesnt matter if i drive at 20kmph, so do that if you plan to touch 190 or otherwise

@ throttle king. the car is absolutely planted at high speeds and surprisingly seems more responsive at that time. straight line is no doubt a big plus and puts off lots of strain while driving.

and yeah the stock rubber is noisy at speeds above 140 - 150.

NOPE .. AFAIK

i think GM officials could be more accurate on this. But still i really don't think so they'd have such a addon option.

whenever i ask these type of questions to GM guys they have a standard answer, "we dont know, will have to check"....i feel they quite reluctant to provide accessories / part of topend vehicle.
