Hi Guys
Thanks for your inputs. The dealer is SAI Service, edappally. As the car is under warranty I am little sceptical of going to another service centre.

Rippergeo @ is autoteam authorised SC for maruti?

Greenhorn@I doubt any other MASS would allow that..No info about it.

Jaggu@ thanks, will be careful.

Try auto team at padivattom. more sensible, and helpful.

Hi Guys,

Now that Jaggu's thread is almost like the Official Swift Diesel thread, I shall continue posting my queries here.

My car has just completed its 50K service, following are the list of jobs done

1. Oil Change and oil filter replaced.
2. Front brake pads replaced
3. Front LHS disc replaced, Shouldn't both be changed at the same time?
4. Brake drum cleaning

Air filter not replaced, I thought Air filter too was replaced every 10K kms. One of the fog lamps has fused, any idea on the cost of the bulb? MASS quoted 800 Rs for one bulb, It has not yet been changed.

Total cost: 6440

Normally Brake Disks doesn't get replaced. It is the Pads that gets replaced whenever they wear out. Disks are damaged when the pads wear out and then there is a metal to metal contact while braking. this makes a lot of sound. Under normal circumstances this doesn't happen.

You can skim the disc at a lathe, if there is some minor warping. Yes "ideally" do any changes for both the wheels, but if the other disc is in good shape no major harm also.

Price quoted for the fog lamp seems to be that of the whole assembly, bulb should be 100 odd bucks??!

Yep, there was a loud grinding sound from my left wheel. These guys at MASS are totally useless, I had my brakes overhauled last service and they didn't bother checking the condition of the pads. This time they didn't charge for labor for brake pad replacement.

I wasn't aware of skimming the disc brakes, thanks for the info. The LHS brake disc was totally worn out from the inside. Probably i shall change the RHS disc during my next service.

About the fog lamp bulb, I shall reconfirm. Any idea if i could replace the bulbs in the fog lamps with other aftermarket lamps? not sure if the stock wiring can take the load.

Autoteam is a "Maruti Service Master" That's one better than MASS.

sound from the front

recently while i brake my swift hardly a grunt or vibration type sound is heard from the front shocks. i called up my service person and talked about the issue. he told its ok, just a front suspension vibration of the springs, its common in every ddis cos the engine weight is more.
is it common in every ddis? do i have to change anything during my next service?

Sounds more like wet brake pad and swifts make braaakk kinda sound while at this. No suspension sound in my car which resembles grinding though it can thud.

Nope no use since it will come back even in a new pad, instead do a slightly longer drive of 10-15 kms in sun and it will dissappear, this is a common issue with both diesel and petrol swifts.
